(AllHipHop News) Unfortunately, Yams Day 2018 was cut short after a brawl broke out at the Bronx’s New York Expo Center. According to reports, the melee included chairs being thrown and bats being used as weapons.
There were rumors circulating online that Brooklyn rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine was somehow involved and possibly even stabbed or shot. The “Gummo” performer posted a message on social media dispelling the claims.
He wrote on Instagram:
Nothing BUT the up most RESPECT for this man. 🙏🏻 This is not about me, it’s about YAMS. People will always mix my name up with something. This is the internet and this is what comes with fame. All I can do is sit here and explain stuff to you guys. I had nothing to do with tonight’s disaster. I went live and posted it so you guys can see. THIS IS NOT ABOUT ME THIS DAY IS FOR YAMS.. Nothing but love and condolences to ASAP.
Yams Day is an annual celebration of the late A$AP Mob leader A$AP Yams. He died from a drug overdose in 2015. Partial proceeds from the concert were being donated to the Always Strive And Prosper Foundation.
The NYPD clarified that there were no reports of gunfire at the venue. Authorities did confirm a “crowd control situation” took place that night.
