(AllHipHop News) Blasting a rap rival during a live performance with an unflattering picture has become a Hip Hop tradition. Jay-Z famously exposed Mobb Deep’s Prodigy as a Michael Jackson-esque young dancer at Hot 97’s 2001 Summer Jam concert.
During the height of his battle with Meek Mill in the summer of 2015, Drake made fun of his adversary by projecting “Back To Back” memes behind him at that year’s OVO Fest. This weekend, YG followed in the footsteps of Hov and Drizzy by putting Tekashi 6ix9ine on the Rolling Loud Bay Area screen.
YG and his 4 Hunnid crew have had problems with 6ix9ine for over a year. The Compton emcee used a Tekashi lookalike in the 2018 music video for “Bulletproof” featuring Jay 305. Later that year, YG’s artist, Slim 400, claimed he blocked 6ix9ine from entering the ComplexCon event in Long Beach, California.
It was widely believed YG’s “Stop Snitchin” track off 2019’s 4Real 4Real album was directed at Tekashi. The song was released after reports circulated that 6ix9ine began working with federal investigators against his former Nine Trey Blood associates. The “Gummo” rhymer eventually testified in open court for the prosecution where he named Trippie Redd, Casanova, Jim Jones, and Cardi B as Blood members.
During his set at the Rolling Loud Bay Area festival on Saturday, YG made it clear how he still feels about the Brooklyn-bred government witness. 6ix9ine’s mugshot was shown in the background of the stage next to the words “STOP SNITCHIN.”
Over 40,000 fans on the Oakland Coliseum grounds also had the chance to see live performances by Future, 21 Savage, G-Eazy, Blueface, Ski Mask The Slump God, Megan Thee Stallion, Kamaiyah, SOB x RBE, Key Glock & Young Dolph, Guapdad 4000, and more acts. The third annual Rolling Loud Bay Area took place on September 28 and September 29.
