If you don’t know what this is about, click here.
Basically, some sources have asserted that Jimmy “Henchmen” Rosemond is
the victim of a smear campaign. Chuck Phillips has something to say
about this and he’s not mincing his words.
Guess what I really think? I think I am caught in the midst of some
secret war going on. Please read below and find the views of one Chuck
Phillips, a former writer for the Los Angeles Times and Award Winning
journalist. He’s not a happy camper as it relates to the rumor from
earlier today. In fact, he asserts that there are several factual errors in
the rumor that I received off the “streets.” Please take the time to
read below. I don’t need this grief! Its rumors to me but to others is
it much more serious.
illseed, The rumor you wrote about me is completely false. I
have never admitted to masterminding a smear campaign against anybody in
my entire life. NEVER. Had you made even the slightest attempt to
verify that malicious lie you would realize that whoever put you up to
it that was lying.
Much of what you published in the item about me was false. But the entire following statement is an outright lie: “he admitted it was him after his ip address was revealed.” Not
only have I never admitted such a thing, to my knowledge, my IP address
has never been revealed. When exactly was my IP address supposed to
have been revealed? And to who?
There is another problem with the lie you published.
If I’m not mistaken, Jimmy Henchman’s lawyer released a statement on
Sept. 13 blaming the government – not me – for the court records cited
in the NY Daily News story:
“The article in today’s New York Daily News about
Jimmy Rosemond is nothing short of a targeted assassination attempt by
the government, with an assist from their favorite newspaper… Due to
the government’s inability to convict Jimmy in a court of law, they have
stooped to trying to get him lynched in the street…. We are weighing
our legal options at this time: Jimmy is not and has never cooperated
with law enforcement. If you noticed the article never stated one named
person that Mr. Rosemond allegedly informed upon. Any suggestion
otherwise is a damnable, actionable lie.”
So whoever fed you
that rumor not only lied about me, but they gave you information at odds
with public statements made by Mr. Rosemond’s own attorney – statements
published by allhiphop.com on Sept. 14, 2010.
So
who is responsible? Is it the government? Or me? Were the court
documents cited in the NY Daily News false? If so, why hasn’t Mr.
Rosemond sued the NY Daily News?
One
more thing. This is a free country and it is your right to attack my
investigative pieces about Tupac Shakur as fiction. But are
you suggesting that Tupac never accused Jimmy Henchman of setting him
up at the Quad Studio in 1994? Are you suggesting that Tupac – who was
punched, kicked and shot 5 times that night – was also manufacturing
fiction? Are you calling Tupac a liar?
Respectfully,
Chuck Philips
illseed note: I didn’t like the piece in the Times from the
jump. It read like a fictitious novel and not like an investigative
piece. We all know now that the piece was retracted as such. No shots to
Chuckie what so ever. Just my two “sense.” And, with that…I am out of
this personal beef between these guys!By the way…As a matter of record, Jimmy had this to say to Sway of MTV.
“I lived with the rumor of what happened to Tupac for the last 14
years. And rumors are rumors —
either you believe them or you don’t — but when you have a reputable
newspaper like the Los Angeles Times with a Pulitzer Prize winner like
Chuck Philips to validate a rumor, then it becomes real. It becomes real
in your life, real to the people around you. When you Google me, this
affects me regardless, forever. I could always rebut a rumor, but this
is something that’s well more damaging. And I think Chuck Philips had no
regards to my reputation, for myself as a businessman, myself as a
father, a family man, somebody’s son. And I think he did irreparable
damage to my career, my reputation and everything else. I don’t think
there is no other reward for me or my family that he can do. An apology
isn’t going to do it. There has to be some form of reprimand in the
sense of his job. He needs to lose his job.” I’m sure this one will continue…BUT….JIMMY AND CHUCK, WE LOVE YOU! PEACE!They keep us talking, but if we stop talking about them then they should worry!
