(AllHipHop News) San Francisco-based MC Aesop Rock‘s first album in five years, Skelethon, was officially released today (July 10) on Rhymesayers Entertainment, and made available to both fans and listeners in a preview format exclusively on YouTube. Aesop Rock was hailed as “Indie Rap’s wordiest wordsmith” by Rolling Stone, and his Skelethon, which was officially announced at the end of March, acts as the follow-up to his 2007 None Shall Pass album. The new, 15-track album features guest appearances from the likes of Kimya Dawson, Allyson Baker of Dirty Ghosts, Hanni El Khatib, Nicky Fleming-Yaryan, Rob Sonic, DJ Big Wiz, and the Grimace Federation. According to a Rhymesayers press release, “Aesop’s new album follows in the wake of several deep personal losses and highlights subject matter that deals with the sometimes-futile ways people try to cope with serious issues.” “Skelethon is set to be both a showpiece for his illustrious career and a serious payoff for his droves of ever-patient loyal fans,” the statement adds. Aesop Rock is currently on tour in support of the new album, and will be hitting Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, and Vancouver in the coming days, before heading to Seattle, Washington on July 20 for “The 2012 Capitol Hill Block Party.” Check out a full album stream of Aesop Rock’s Skelethon below: [youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CYNBOAoXReQ&w=560&h=315] Aesop Rock’s new album Skelethon is available now for purchase on iTunes and other online retailers.

AHH Stray News: Wiz Khalifa Reveals “O.N.I.F.C.” Collaborators; Meek Mills Signs With Roc Nation Management; Aesop Rock Announces Tour Dates
(AllHipHop News) With less than four months to go until his second Atlantic Records album, O.N.I.F.C., hits stores, Taylor Gang’s Wiz Khalifa is revealing collaborators for his follow-up to 2011’s Rolling Papers. Wiz recently told DJ Whoo Kid, “I’ve got Pharrell on there, he did a beat and a verse, I’ve got Cam’Ron on there. I’ve got Spitta [Curren$y] on there, of course. The Weeknd.” Wiz also spoke on his vision for the album’s first single, “Work Hard Play Hard,” “It’s just a perfect combination of a club song, a radio song, a friendly song for everybody, and it’s hard. It’s edgy; it doesn’t compromise any of its rap integrity.” In a recent interview with Life + Times, Warner Bros. recording artist Meek Mill announced that he recently signed a management deal with Roc Nation. “Me coming up in this rap game, I was always an underground artist coming up by myself and making all of the moves by myself,” said Meek. “My manager – he’s just like me, we’ve been coming up in the streets by ourselves. So we just decided to partner up with Roc Nation and take things to another level.” The news comes a week after Meek Mill revealed at an MMG press conference that his debut album Dreams and Nightmares would be released on August 28. The Philladelphia native also recently dropped his highly-anticipated new mixtape, Dreamchasers 2, to an outstanding response. Meek will perform alongside Rick Ross tonight (May 11) as part of Power 99’s SpringFest concert event in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Aesop Rock’s sixth solo studio album, Skelethon, will be the MC’s first release in five years, and in support of the long wait, Rock has announced plans to embark on a 22-city tour beginning on July 13 in Los Angeles, California. Aesop Rock is also set for a performance on May 27 at Rhymesayers Entertainment’s SoundSet Festival, which will take place in Minneapolis. The festival will stop in Vancouver, Atlanta, Dallas, Philadelphia, New York, and other major cities before wrapping up in San Diego, California on August 15.
