Fake Four Records Owner Ceschi Ramos Serving Time For Drug Conviction
(AllHipHop News) Ceschi Ramos, musician and owner of Fake Four Records, started serving an 18- month prison sentence yesterday (September 4). The jail time stems from a drug bust on Christmas Day 2010, where Ceschi was charged with purchasing over 100 pounds of marijuana that was shipped cross-country from California to Connecticut, colorfully wrapped as Christmas gifts. A plea bargain helped Ceschi avoid a 5–7 year sentence for the conviction. Since yesterday, an IndieGoGo web page started by Ceschi’s brother, David Ramos has raised over $15,000 to help with legal fees and administrative costs for the record label during Ceschi’s prison term. Ceschi says, “In the end, nearly 3 years later, I’ve been left with nearly $50,000 in legal debt. My best option was to accept a plea bargain compared to the 5 to 7 years I was facing.” Fake Four records is a popular independent record label specializing in Experimental Hip-Hop which has released dozens of acclaimed albums by artists such as Myka 9, Blue Sky Black Death, Dark Time Sunshine, Open Mike Eagle, and Busdriver. “Your support over the past 24 hours has been overwhelming. My brother now has an additional government issued number to add to his tax i.d., Social Security, and driver’s license numbers. In other words, he has been processed, now has an inmate number, and hopefully I will be able to see him today,” added Ceschi’s brother David Ramos. “I can’t express the magnitude of appreciation that my family and I have for all of you right now. Beyond the financial support, you have proven that Ceschi has influenced and positively impacted so many people with his music, Fake Four, and just being who he is. He is not just another prison number to all of us.” Check out this Youtube video of Ceschi speaking on the situation:

Graphic Photos From R. Prophet’s Altercation With Police Surface
(AllHipHop News) Over the weekend R. Prophet, former member of rap group Nappy Roots, was involved in a violent altercation with Kentucky State Police. On April 20th a vehicle Prophet was traveling in was pulled over at a DUI checkpoint. He was then told to exit the car and wait for someone else to come and pick him up. [ALSO READ: R. Prophet of Nappy Roots Tasered & Arrested By Kentucky Police] Police say that Prophet showed signs of being inebriated and began walking on the roadway into moving traffic. Officers decided to arrest him for public intoxication. The troopers claim that Prophet began kicking the officers, and they had to use force to restrain him. Apparently, at some point he told the police, “I’m R. Prophet” which officers mistook as “I’m a prophet.” The situation escalated to Prophet being pepper sprayed and tased numerous times by officers. The 35-year-old emcee also sustained serious injuries to his face, head, and legs. Prophet spoke with TMZ. He says the entire incident was unnecessary and that he feared for his life. But Prophet tells TMZ, it’s all BS … he was fully cooperative and cops repeatedly tased him for no reason as he laid helpless on the ground and handcuffed, adding, “I felt they were doing me like a slave. I thought I was dead.” He also says when he was thrown in the back of the cruiser he was pepper sprayed and tased again. Prophet says it got so bad in the car he thought they were going to drive him somewhere and kill him. In a panic, he says he gashed his head on the window. Prophet was admitted to Hardin County Memorial Hospital and was later charged with alcohol intoxication, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, criminal mischief, menacing, and assault of a police officer. He is currently out on $5,000 bond. Prophet sent photos of his injuries to TMZ. View the pics in the slideshow below.

Chief Keef Gets 60 Days in Juvenile Detention Center
(AllHipHop News) Rapper Chief Keef has received a 60 day sentence in jail, after violating his probation during an interview at a gun range in New York last year. According to DNAInfo.com, prosecutors in the case alleged that Chief Keef was a member of a Black Disciples offshoot called “Lamron,” a term used for gang members on Normal Boulevard in Chief Keef’s old neighborhood, Englewood. In court, prosecutors and a judge reviewed lyrics from his debut album Finally Rich on Interscope, and stated that he was bragging about being free, despite his actions. The sentence comes just days after the rapper, born Keith Cozart, was jailed for the violation, which occurred earlier this week. “I beg you, please, give me one more chance to show you. I’m a very good-hearted person. I have not picked up any more cases. That’s not my life anymore,” Chief Keef reportedly told the judge. Family members like his mother and grandmother told reporters the he just raps about the stuff that he lives next to. Due to the sentence, Chief Keef will be canceling his tour. He can appeal the judge’s ruling after 30 days in juvenile detention. His next court date is on March 14.

Preliminary Hearing For Young Calicoe Over Felony Dog Fighting Charges Today
(AllHipHop News) Detroit rapper Young Calicoe is slated to make his first court appearance today (November 27), over animal fighting and gambling charges. The rapper, born Toranio Hightower, is charged with conspiracy to gamble, animal fighting and conspiracy to commit animal fighting. The charges came after a video surfaced on the Internet, that featured a cockfighting operation in a Detroit home. After Detroit authorities got wind of the animal fighting ring/gambling operation, they raided a home and found eight dogs, three roosters and three hens. Although Young Calicoe has been quiet since the Detroit Police Department began their investigation, a defense attorney in the case believes that the video in question was simply a harmless skit. “Tells others to look at rap videos and see who you can convict, based just on what you see,” attorney Daryl Eason told MLive.com. “You saw a happy, healthy pit bulls in the video,” said Eason, who represents two other defendants in the case. If convicted on all charges, Young Calicoe faces 13 years in prison. [youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4yDf95B10ko?feature=player_detailpage&w=640&h=360]

Rapper C-Murder's Quest For Supreme Court Appeal Delayed
(AllHipHop News) Incarcerated rapper C-Murder will have to wait to see if he will be able to appeal a 2009 murder conviction. The rapper’s appeal was one of several major cases for the U.S. Supreme Court to review this week, but it was not on the docket for unknown reasons. According to the Times-Picayune, no explanation was given for the delay, but it could be for several reasons, as Justices of the Supreme Court could have had asked for more time to consider the appeal. C-Murder, born Corey Miller, was given a mandatory life sentence in Angola prison, after he was convicted of the 2002 death of 16-year-old Steven Thomas. Thomas was shot to death inside of a now defunct, Harvey nightclub during a dispute. Although witnesses placed C-Murder inside of the club, none were actually able to identify him as the person actually firing a weapon. Defense witnesses have long claimed that another man, who is now deceased, was the person inside of the club that was responsible for shooting Thomas. C-Murder has been convicted of the crime twice already. In the first trial in 2003, the rapper was convicted, but that was overturned on appeal, when it was learned prosecutors expunged the criminal records of their witnesses. During the 2009 trial, 10 of the 12 jurors found C-Murder guilty of Thomas’ death. But as jurors were deliberating, one woman claimed that he was placed under undue stress to reach a verdict. Other jurors accused another member of the jury of sleeping and reading the Bible during the deliberations. Shortly after the case, the woman spoke to the media about the pressure she was under to make her decision. The juror, Mary Jacob, told reporters shortly after the guilty verdict that she voted, because a Nother, younger insurer had become ill during the deliberations, since she believed see murder was innocent. “They literally made this 20-year-old girl so violently ill,” Mary Jacob said. “She was shaking so bad. She ran into the bathroom. She was throwing her guts up. She couldn’t function anymore. That’s when I decided, the judge don’t want to listen to me, doesn’t want to listen to us? I told them, ‘You want him to be guilty? He’s guilty, now let’s get the hell out of here.”’ According to the Times-Picayune, the high Supreme Court approves less than 2% of the appeals that are filed annually.
