Although Swizz Beatz is a good friend of Jay-Z, and his wife Alicia Keys is a recent collaborator with Jigga, Swizzy makes it clear that he’s riding with the original NY team, The New York Knicks! At a recent press junket at Madison Square Garden earlier this week, Swizz revealed to the fans that he produced the new New York Knicks theme song and also had a few words about the “new place” in town. “Now, I know there’s a lot of things going on around town with a bunch of other new places, but there’s no place like the Garden. There’s no team like the New York Knicks…[and] this year, I sat down with the fellas, and they said it’s showtime. What time is it? It’s Knicks time…I want y’all to get used to that all year ‘c## they’re coming out harder, stronger, better, and they’re coming to rush the building.” Did Swizzy just take a few shots at the Barclays Center? JAY-Z OPENS THE BARCLAYS CENTER AND WELCOMES THE BROOKLYN NETS!!
JAY-Z WELCOMES FANS TO HIS NEW HOME AT BARCLAYS CENTER CONCERT TONIGHT (SEPT. 28)
HIP-HOP RUMORS: IS JAY-Z REALLY NOT HAVING ANY SPECIAL GUESTS AT HIS BARCLAYS SHOWS?
(AllHipHop News) In what has now become a concert series rather than a few appearances, three additional shows have been added to rap mogul Jay-Z’s planned kickoff for the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York City. According to the New York Daily News, Jay-Z, will perform a total of eight shows between September 28 and October 6 at the arena in downtown Brooklyn, the new home of his co-owned Brooklyn Nets NBA basketball team. There are reports that scalpers are selling approximately 6,700 tickets online, with prices ranging from $60 for upper tier seats to $6,800 for seats on the floor. Most of the 7,000 tickets to the eight shows, however, will be sold for $29.50, but will reap upwards of $195 online. “It’s going to be very difficult for the real fan to get hold of them and that has a lot to do with ticket distribution,” said Will Flaherty, an executive for SeatGeek, a ticket aggregating company. The bulk of tickets will likely go to Nets pre-sold ticket holders, American Express cardholders, and employees of Barclays. Jay-Z was recently named Director for the new Barclays Arena firm that will oversee the home of the Brooklyn Nets. The Barclays Center’s boasts a prime location along Brooklyn’s historic Atlantic Avenue, and with its 14,586 seats, is set to bring thousands of jobs to the rapper’s birthplace borough.
(AllHipHop News) Brooklyn’s new Barclays Center is set to open on September 28 with a high-profile Jay-Z concert, and the center has announced two additional performance dates on September 29 and 30 for the multi-platinum selling, Grammy Award-winning rapper and mogul. “Jay-Z is Brooklyn and is the definitive artist to open Barclays Center,” said Barclays Center CEO Brett Yormark. “We are thrilled that such an iconic world-class entertainer, not to mention a Brooklynite, will take the borough’s biggest stage on three consecutive nights for what will surely be a historic experience for all fans.” Barclays announced in mid-June that Jay-Z, who is also a minority investor of the Brooklyn Nets, will serve as Director of the Brooklyn Arena Firm. Tickets for all three concerts, which are being produced by LiveNation, will officially go on sale to the general public this Friday (July 13) at 10 a.m. It is being reported that over 7,000 tickets will be available for under $30. Pre-sale tickets will be available to American Express card members beginning on Wednesday (July 11) from 10 am until 10 pm. For tickets and more information, visit Ticketmaster.com.
(AllHipHop News) The NY Post is reporting that Jay-Z, who is already a minority investor in the Brooklyn Nets and their new home, the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, has been named director of the Barclays Arena firm. Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter, who recently helped design and debut the new logo and line of apparel and gear for the Brooklyn Nets, is now listed as director for the company that runs the Barclays Center, Brooklyn Arena LLC. “The new title emerged in papers filed by arena developer Forest City Ratner Cos. in its bid to secure a liquor license for the future home of the Brooklyn Nets,” according to the Post. “As one of seven directors, the rapper and music mogul will attend board meetings and help direct arena senior staff on daily operations, Barclays Center officials confirmed today.” The Post states that “Jay-Z is listed as an arena director along with Forest City CEO Bruce Ratner, David Berliner, Mary Anne Gilmartin, Christophe Charlier, Irina Pavlova, and David Carlock. Pavlova is Nets majority owner Mikhail Prokhorov’s right-hand woman in the United States and president of his Onexim Sports and Entertainment Holding USA, Inc. The Russian oligarch Prokhorov owns 80 percent of the Nets and also has a 45 percent share in the arena.” The new title comes several days after news broke that Jay-Z plans to open a brand new 40/40 Club in the arena later this year. The rapper, entertainer and all-around business man is also planning to officially open the Barcalys Center on September 28 with a headlining concert. For the full story visits NY Post.
