DJ/Producer J. Period Officially Named Music Supervisor For NBA's Brooklyn Nets

(AllHipHop News) DJ and producer J. Period has officially been named Music Supervisor for the Brooklyn Nets, a position which is first of its kind in the NBA. J. Period, who has been working the boards at Barclays since November, has created over 150 remixes to a number of hits, both classic and new, for a Barclays Center home crowd of over 15,000 attendees a night. “It is truly an honor to be part of the Nets’ groundbreaking approach to music at Barclays Center,” added J. Period in an official press release. “As a Brooklynite for over 10 years and a lifetime hoops head, I’m excited to play a role in shaping the musical identity of the Brooklyn Nets in their debut season.” “Barclays is the new epicenter of Brooklyn,” he continued. “The arena experience is all about capturing that essence. As Music Supervisor, my goal is simple: energize the entire crowd and help make it fun for everyone… Brooklyn-style.” In addition to his nightly music selection, Period also helped craft a remix to the official anthem for the Brooklyn Nets by John Forte titled “Brooklyn: Something to Lean On (J. Period Remix),”  which plays before every home game. “J. Period has played an integral part in reinventing how we musically entertain our fans,” stated Petra Pope, Nets Senior Vice President of Event Marketing and Community Relations. “He has strong ties to the Borough of Brooklyn and the diversity it represents… we are fortunate to have him as a part of our team.” To date, J. Period has collaborated with the likes of The Roots, Lauryn Hill, Jay-Z, Big Daddy Kane, Talib Kweli, Nas, Q-Tip and many more. In the past decade alone, he has released over 30 mixtapes, and has worked on the music for a number of films and video games including Street Kings, American Gangster, DJ Hero and Tony Hawk’s Motion. In addition to the news of his new position, J.
