Drake's 3rd Annual "OVO Festival" To Feature A$AP Rocky, The Weeknd and 2 Chainz

(AllHipHop News) In its third year, the Toronto-held “October’s Very Own Festival,” which Drake has headlined since its creation, will feature performances from A$AP Rocky, The Weeknd, and 2 Chainz. Drake tweeted the news out last night: “OVO Fest August 5th. A$AP Rocky, 2 Chainz, The Weeknd, Drake. A special night we’ve created for the greatest city…Toronto.” The nine-time Grammy Award-nominated rapper and singer said in a statement, “Bringing together the 3rd Annual OVO Fest is such a milestone for me. This year, we’re going to bring it just like we do every year-with high energy and music at its best.” In past years, the “OVO Festival” has featured such acts as Nas, Stevie Wonder, Eminem, Jay-Z, Young Jeezy, and Rick Ross. “That’s the most important show of the year to me, OVO Fest, so I’m hoping that we really make it special this year,” he told MTV earlier this year. “The premise of OVO Fest is you never know who you gonna see.” Drake, who is currently on the second leg of his “Club Paradise Tour” with 2 Chainz, J. Cole, Meek Mill, and others, hasn’t performed in his hometown since last summer. “A lot has happened over the last three years – a journey that I’m so grateful for – but it’s always coming home and performing for my hometown that means the most,” he said. Tickets for the 3rd Annual “OVO Festival” will go on sale this Saturday.

Waka Flocka To Drop “Triple F Life” On June 12, Hits Road With Drake For “Club Paradise Tour”

(AllHipHop News) Warner Bros. Records and Brick Squad Monopoly have revealed a June 12 release date for Waka Flocka’s sophomore album, Triple F Life: Friends, Fans and Family. Triple F Life: Friends, Fans and Family currently has two singles in rotation on radio – “Round Of Applause” featuring Drake, which was released last summer, and the Trey Songz-assisted “I Don’t Really Care.” The latter is currently the #1 most-added song on radio, and there are plans to shoot a video for the single on April 10. Triple F Life: Friends, Fans and Family is set to include features and appearances from B.O.B., Tyga, Drake, Trey Songz, Ludacris, and more. In addition, Waka Flocka has just been added to the lineup for Drake’s second U.S. run of his “Club Paradise Tour” where the Atlanta rapper will travel to 27 cities over the course of two months and perform with J. Cole, 2 Chainz, and French Montana. Waka’s first Warner Bros. release, Flockaveli, was touted as “the most anarchic rap album of 2010” by The Washington Post, and “one of the most bracing and unforgiving Hip-Hop releases in recent memory” by The New York Times. Flockaveli produced four hit singles including the triple platinum cut “No Hands” which featured Roscoe Dash and Wale, “Oh Lets Do It,” “Grove St. Party” and “ Hard In Da Paint.” To date, the album has sold over 300,000 copies. Tickets and dates for the “Club Paradeise Tour” can be found at LiveNation.com. Triple F Life: Friends, Fans and Family is scheduled for a June 12 release.

Chase N. Cashe Speaks On Recording With “Club Paradise” Tourmates; Possible Project In the Works

(AllHipHop News) Chase N. Cashe took some time to speak to AllHipHop.com while on his tour bus, which is currently traveling nationwide as part of the “Club Paradise Tour” with Drake, Kendrick Lamar, and A$AP Rocky. The rapper and producer’s recent mixtape, The Heir Up There, has been getting some great feedback since its release, including our own 8/10 review. Chase was eager to share some information with us about some of the amazing collaborations he’s got in the stash that he cannot wait for the world to hear. When asked about an actual collaborative project or EP with his tour mates, Chase said “Definitely. I’m trying to put it together. With me being the sole producer on the tour, I’m definitely trying to put that sh*t together. Me and [A$AP] Rocky talk all the time. Rock and [A$AP] Yams are very creative people and they’re working on the A$AP Mob compilation, and I’ll be working with them and producing on that sh*t. I got some joints with Kendrick [Lamar] that will be coming out on his sh*t too. You know, we got the set up so we’re trying to put something together and then we just have to get the big dog Drake to come off the stage one time and give us a verse.” Since the project and music has a “larger than life” feel to it, just based on the artists that are collaborating, AllHipHop.com asked Chase to clarify on how much of a reality the project actually was. “This sh*t is all real. I’m definitely going to put it out there that at the very least, I’m sure we’re going to have a song or songs made from this tour that will definitely hit the Internet and do what they do.” Beyond the prospect of releasing a project with all four MC’s, Chase also spoke on the work that he and his producing partner Hit-Boy have been cooking up, both as individuals and as a duo. “Right now we’re doing Kent Money’s project, also Hit-Boy got some sh*t coming, I got some more sh*t coming; I’m always working. We’re really going to try and put a compilation together with everybody but I can’t really put a date no on that sh*t because everybody in Surf Club is individually out touring and doing their own thing.” “I’m going to keep it real,” Chase continued, “I think me and Hit-Boy both have got some stuff on Kendrick Lamar’s album, and I definitely want people to hear that sh*t. I got some sh*t coming with Wiz Khalifa. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it goes through, but that sh*t is a banger for real for real! Even if it just comes out to come out, he’s a talent that I like to work with and he’s interesting. I possibly got some stuff with Big Sean, but I know Hit-Boy has some bangers with Sean coming. I’ve got something coming with him on the rap side and, man, just a lot of sh*t in general.” In regards to new artists that Chase is preparing to work with, there is a lot of new talent like “L.E.P. Bogus Boys, Alley Boy, Trouble from Atlanta, Casey Veggies, Skeme from California, Troy Ave., that’s my guy, me and him are going to put out a project together, too.”
