Mixtape: Travis Garland – Fashionably Late Volume 2
Formerly a member of Pop boy band NLT, Texas-bred R&B singer Travis Garland has forged a new following and is reintroducing himself with his latest mixtape, Fashionably Late Volume II. According to the L.A. Times, after his release from Interscope Records, Garland took to YouTube to perform covers. He garnered more 10 million views and soon partnered with producers, Stereotypes (Chris Brown, Justin Bieber) to start working on his first EP, Fashionably Late, Volume 1. Garland has immediately received comparison to Pop Soul singer Justin Timberlake. On being a solo artist, Garland reveals “The biggest misconception about me is that I’m disposable,” he said. “That I’m just a boy-band kid, come and go. But I’m a real artist, I have something to say.” And with genre-bending artists including Frank Ocean, Miguel and Dawn Richard, R&B is currently seeing a renovation. Time will tell if Garland will join the party. DOWNLOAD Fashionably Late, Vol. 2 SOURCE

Dawn Richard Shines Exotic in "Wild N' Faith" Visual
The message here is simple: Dawn Richard isn’t going anywhere. R&B singer, and former Bad Boy Records/Diddy Dirty Money artist Dawn Richard has been hard at work since her release from her former label, leading an independent movement with her “Hearts,” and producing her most-profiled material yet, the Armor On mixtape, earlier this year. The video for “Wild N’ Faith”, directed by Marina & The Diamonds director, ELY, gives us another look at Dawn’s futuristic style and movement ability. The visual finds this former New Orleans Hornet dancer giving little room for error, moving and providing near-perfect choreography that rivals any of her competitors. Yep, including Beyonce. Check the video: [youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hjXt8vksmdw&w=640&h=360] Dawn is prepping her solo debut album, Goldenheart, for an October 16 release.

Dawn Richard Shines (Sans Diddy-Dirty Money) in "Automatic"
Still on the rise in her independent movement, singer Dawn Richard has just released a video for her second single off Armor On today, “Automatic”. Since her departure from Bad Boy Records and Diddy-Dirty Money, Richard has been touring across the country and enjoying the ride. In an interview earlier this month with AllHipHop.com, Richard shed light on the meaning behind the phrase “Armor On.” “When I say Armor On, I’m speaking of the reason why I need to guard my heart in the first place. I always quote Daphne Guinness because she’s my all-time favorite,” Richard told AllHipHop.com. “I went out to the world, and I realized it wasn’t friendly and we needed armor. And this is reality. We come into this world so naïve. I’m not telling people not to come into it. I’m choosing to tell people to armor up, suit up, and go out into this battle called life and conquer it. I think that’s me loving literature from the old days,” she added. Dirty Money’s Dawn Richard Garners Massive Online Buzz Via New Video
Dawn Richard was one of the standout participants on Diddy’s “Making The Band 3.” It was clear to viewers – and apparently Diddy – that she actually had talent and possibly the ambition to see her dream through to reality. For her efforts on the show and once her short-lived Danity Kane days were over, Richard was rewarded with a spot as one-third of the Diddy-led group, Dirty Money. Their Last Train To Paris brokered several hits, possibly giving her the credibility she needed to be seen beyond the reality show sphere. These days, Richard’s video for “S.M.F.U. (Save Me From You)” has Twitter and other social media all abuzz. It may be because the first release from her upcoming GoldenHeart LP represents one of the first glimpses fans will get of the New Orleans native/Hurricane Katrina survivor (outside of her popular 2011 mixtape, A Tell Tale Heart). And, minus her all-girl group members from Danity Kane and the other boisterous, two-thirds of Dirty Money – Diddy and Kalenna Harper – Richard seems to be able to stand on her own. Check the video for “S.M.F.U.” below, which Richard premiered on yesterday’s (January 5) episode of “106th & Park,” to see what the buzz is all about: [youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q9JXm-csjQg&w=560&h=315] Visit Dawn Richard’s website at http://dawnrichard.tumblr.com or follow her on Twitter (@dawnrichard).
