Kanye West Becomes Focus Of 45 Minute Fan-Made Documentary [VIDEO]

(AllHipHop News) Kanye West’s life is pretty much like a movie. Every move the rapper/producer makes becomes instant news across the internet. Whether it’s dropping masterful music, delivering one of his classic rants, calling out a sitting president on national television, or tweeting two simple words, the lights are always on Kanye. With over a decade of experience in the game immeasurable amounts of video footage of Mr. West exists. One Yeezy super-fan reflected on the now legendary career of the Chicago emcee by compiling some of those moments into one 45-minute documentary. [ALSO READ: Kanye West To Appear In ‘Anchorman 2′] James Workman’s Where The Lonely Kids Go When The Bell Rings explores Kanye West in his own words. Workman crafts a nice remainder of the journey of Kanye through past interviews, performances, and videos. Workman posted the doc on the Kanye To The fan forum with the following statement: Mt [sic] first intention was to make like a 10 minute video with Kanye quotes and such, but I had so much material so I decided to make it a tad longer. The closest I could get to a real documentary. (We really need one in all honesty). My goal was to capture something from every solo album, and the video is basically chronological. Starting with CD and ending with MBDTF. I entitled it Where The Lonely Kids Go When The Bell Rings (I know that’s not the actual line in Eyes Closed), because I feel like that sums up Kanye’s career – The outsider. The misunderstood genius. This took me 5000 hours to make so please be kind… Go back down memory lane with Where The Lonely Kids Go When The Bell Ring below. Mike Epps, George Lopez & Many More To Appear In New Richard Pryor Documentary

(AllHipHop News) If you are a fan of Mike Epps, Kevin Hart, Dave Chappelle, Chris Rock, Martin Lawrence, Chris Tucker, Eddie Murphy, or practically any other stand-up comedian from the last 30 years then there is one man who deserves a lot of credit for inspiring and providing a blueprint for the careers of those popular comics. The legendary Richard Pryor is probably your favorite comedian’s favorite comedian. Epps, along with other famous comedy performers like Whoopi Goldberg, Bob Newhart, Mel Brooks, and George Lopez, will pay honor to Pryor in the new Showtime documentary Richard Pryor: Omit The Logic. The feature was directed by Emmy winner Marina Zenovich who previously directed Roman Polanski: Wanted and Desired. Richard Pryor’s widow, Jennifer Pryor, and his son, Richard Pryor Jr, were also involved in the project. Ms. Pryor served as a producer for the film along with Food Revolution‘s Roy Ackerman. Richard Jr. appears on camera to speak about his father. Along with the celebrities’ personal reflections on Pryor’s role in shaping modern comedy, the documentary will also feature never-before-seen photos, concert footage, and television appearances of the icon. Richard Pryor’s significant place in comedy history cannot be denied. The Emmy and 5-time Grammy Award winner was named the greatest stand-up comedian of all time by Comedy Central. He was also the first person to receive the Kennedy Center’s prestigious Mark Twain Prize for American Humor in 1998. It was Pryor’s candid and fearless comedic style that changed the way future comedians would approach the art of stand-up. Whether it was tackling his own personal demons like drug addiction or addressing social ills like racism and poverty, Pryor would openly touch on taboo subjects and include every part of his life into his routine. He also helped establish that a black comedy actor in a leading role could be a major box office draw with his hit films Silver Streak, Stir Crazy, The Toy, and Brewster’s Millions. His mainstream success led to a then remarkable $4 million contract to appear in Superman III which was a million dollars more than the salary of the movie’s star Christopher Reeve. Oscar-winning actor Louis Gossett, Jr is quoted saying that Pryor is “the single most reason for us making it in this business. He made it possible for [black entertainers] to be in this business on equal terms.” Richard Pryor: Omit The Logic will premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 23rd, and then its television debut will take place May 31st at 9 pm EST on Showtime. You can watch a NSFW video of clips from some of Richard Pryor’s stand-up and listen to his classic 1982 comedy album Live On The Sunset Strip below. Documentary On Pharcyde Member J-Swift’s Drug Battle Being Released Digitally

(AllHipHop News) A documentary that chronicles the seven year battle of rapper J. Swift’s drug addiction, is being released digitally this December. The documentary “1 More Hit” will be released in December, to a number of digital distribution outlets and VOD services. The documentary focuses on J. Swift’s battle with crack cocaine, an addiction that help derail his career as a producer for The Pharcyde, in the mid-1990s. “Everyone’s reaction to drugs and alcohol is different,” J-Swift told AllHipHop.com. “Drugs are like the ocean. There’s a lot of great musicians that got in too deep and a riptide took them away. Music was a life vest for me, my family and God rescued me. My new album [February 2012] is the culmination of everything I went through.” According to the film’s director Shauna Garr, “1 More Hit” originally started off as a pilot for a reality series, but the complicated story ended up taking longer to film and was quickly turned into a critically acclaimed documentary “I want to get this story out before another young talented musician or artist is doomed to the same destruction,” added director Shauna Garr. Garr stated that “1 More Hit” is far from a sad documentary about a drug addict. According to Garr, the documentary highlights J-Swift’s charismatic personality, as he pursues his family life, raises his children, rebuilds recording career and fights his addiction. The documentary “1 More Hit” is due to be released digitally on December 5, 2011, to over 16.5 million homes. Check out the trailer below:
