Formerly a member of Pop boy band NLT, Texas-bred R&B singer Travis Garland has forged a new following and is reintroducing himself with his latest mixtape, Fashionably Late Volume II. According to the L.A. Times, after his release from Interscope Records, Garland took to YouTube to perform covers. He garnered more 10 million views and soon partnered with producers, Stereotypes (Chris Brown, Justin Bieber) to start working on his first EP, Fashionably Late, Volume 1. Garland has immediately received comparison to Pop Soul singer Justin Timberlake. On being a solo artist, Garland reveals “The biggest misconception about me is that I’m disposable,” he said. “That I’m just a boy-band kid, come and go. But I’m a real artist, I have something to say.” And with genre-bending artists including Frank Ocean, Miguel and Dawn Richard, R&B is currently seeing a renovation.
