(AllHipHop News) Over the weekend the NFL kicked off their Wild-Card NFL Weekend with matchups in the AFC and NFC Conferences receiving great support and attention from rappers and the Hip-Hop community. The Houston Texans kicked things off on Saturday with a victory against the Cincinnati Bengals at Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas, while the second game of the day featured the Minnesota Vikings and the Green Bay Packers. Sunday’s Wild Card matchups featured Ray Lewis’ Baltimore Ravens versus the Indianapolis Colts, and the Seattle Seahawks visiting the RG III and the Washington Redskins. The Ravens and Seahawks came out victorious as they moved on to the NFL’s Divisional Rounds. All season long rappers in their respective cities have routed on their teams via the social networking sites like Instagram and Twitter. On Saturday there was no better example than Houston rappers Bun B and Slim Thug, who showed their support for the Houston Texans as they beat the Cincinnati Bengals. “Game day! @houstontexans #gotexans #bullsonparade http://instagr.am/p/UG7foxjQyl/,” Bun B Tweeted from his account @BunBTrillOG. “Lets get it #Texans time to whoop the stripes off them Bengals,” Slim Thug said via his account @slimthugga Cincinnati producer Hi-Tek got in on the fun as well simply saying “damn,” as his Bengals lost to the Texans. “good game @BunBTrillOG @slimthugga @imacelvrobinson.” During the second game of the day DJ Skee (pictured below) cheered on his Vikings on the sidelines although they unfortunately lost to the Packers who go on to play the San Francisco 49ers. “On enemy territory to watch the #Vikings #skol at Lambeau from the field… lets goooo” Ludacris has already started to get amped up for his Atlanta Falcons who play host to highflying Seattle Seahawks. In an interview with DJ Scream on Hoodrich radio Ludacris let it be known how serious it is for Atlanta to win the Super Bowl this year. “I’m feeling damn good, but I’m be like, its a lot of pressure because if these boys mess up at this point we gonna be p#####! I say that for all of Atlanta, we need this and it needs to happen this year! Like you can’t have this great of a season and then go and mess this thing up. So I’m telling you man we gotta put some fire behind ’em man fa sho,” Ludacris said of his Atlanta Falcons. (AllHipHop News) Cincinnati, Ohio producer Hi-Tek recently spoke with AllHipHop.com, elaborating on his upcoming project set to release in 2013 called Hi-Teknology 4: Ohio Player. The producer of some of Black Star’s hits like “Definition,” “K.O.S. (Determination),” “Respiration,” explained that the Ohio Player project that he has been working on is loosely based on his own career in the industry. “The next time I put out an album its going to be right,” Hi-Tek told AllHipHop.com. “In 2013 I’m going to drop a single, put out some music, and I’m getting my new website together Hi-TekMusic.com, the next album is going to be called, ‘Hi-Teknology: Ohio Player,’ it’s going to be an addition to the Hi-Teknology series and it’s kind of based on me being a person from Ohio, puttin it down, strong with the music and it’s ode and a dedication to the OGs, and its something to inspire those from where I’m from because so much music has come from here. “My whole new project is about 50 percent done and I’m just trying to find distribution for it right now. Thats really my main focus right now, just getting this album together. I recently did some stuff with [David] Banner, and I’m just trying to develop some new talent,” Hi-Tek explained to AllHipHop.com. Hi-Tek also spoke positively about the range of rappers and artists from Ohio that have gained nationwide recognition from MGK, to Stalley, to Kid Cudi, to King Chip and others. “When you hear King Chip, you hear the essence of a true rapper. His voice and his flow reminded me of a Cleveland version of Biggie and we speak often and connect often, Chip is just dope and I’m waiting to see when he really puts out that classic album. He’s definitely one of the best that I’ve worked with, Kid Cudi is amazing to me, he’s like a Midwest Mos Def,” Hi-Tek explained. When asked about MGK, Hi-Tek said he looks forward to working with MGK on a remix to one of his songs in the future. “Yea he’s cool I know they rep the state hard and I want them to do it in the music too, I want to get him on the remix to something, it’s whatever, but I’m definitely proud of the him and the new artists coming up out here in Ohio man because I know how hard it is to come up out of here. Its hard to break the Midwest monkey off your back because you are so far from the industry’s big citys. Being from a small city your talent is so raw and a lot of cats from the Midwest are not used to that big city and the major label routine and that major push, but its a lot of talent out here ready to be recognized. New York embraced me a long time ago, I love Cali, but I’m able to come back home because I’m a Cincinnati boy at heart all day. There’s a lot of talent here.”
CLASSIC COMPOSITIONS: THE TOP 5 MOST SLEPT-ON PRODUCER COMPILATIONS OF THE 2000s
Rating: 8/10 Looking to add to this month’s hottest releases, Chip Tha Ripper drops his latest tape entitled Tell Ya Friends. The smooth-flowing Cleveland rapper has brought forth another solid project, with features from Wale, Bun B, Krayzie Bone, Kid Cudi, and more. Tell Ya Friends also features high quality production from Lex Luger, Boi-1da, Hi-Tek, and Chuck Inglish, as Chip looks to follow up on his highly praised 2011 release, Gift Raps. The opening track, “Good Evening,” is a microcosm of Chip Tha Ripper’s smooth signature style as he speaks on women, his city, sippin’ on syrup, and his favorite drink: Jameson. He raps about his rides on the hook, highlighting one in particular as he repeatedly lets it be known that his “Chevy sittin’ on 24s.” The song topics continue in this manner until listeners get a surprise on the Lex Luger-produced “Out Here.” Demonstrating his versatility, Lex provides the perfect instrumental for Chip to shine on. The beat, which strays away from the popular trap sound that Lex gained popularity on, still features Lex’s signature snare and bass, but slowed down and mixed with synths and strings that are audible enough to keep the beat laidback enough for Chip’s smooth flow. [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0-lYn5gF2-8] Chip takes a different approach on one of the mixtape’s top tracks “25 Wives,” as he ponders what life would be like if he could have 25 wives (“If I got all ya’ll, there won’t be no sense in cheating). Not to be outdone, Wale jumps on the track and voices his thoughts on the possibility of having 25 wives in his life. In addition he shares that he enjoys a woman with a natural body: “Silicon b*tches got the confidence / but natural b*tches get all my compliments.” The Boi-1da produced track also features an eastern, almost snake charmer-type flute sound that provides a hazy, laidback vibe. As the tape progresses, Chip is joined on the song “Stay Sleep” by Cleveland-native, Krayzie Bone, as Chip raps about being overlooked in the game, despite the popularity of his previous mixtapes. Krayzie Bone speaks to the city of Cleveland on his verse, telling the people to “Go get it and quit blaming sh*t on LeBron.” [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QmNBaT5vH84] Chip Tha Ripper’s Tell Ya Friends definitely has what it takes to be mentioned among the top releases of this year so far, even in a release-heavy month. The tape will also have fans anticipating the release of his album, Charles Worth, which is rumored to drop sometime this summer. In the meantime, Tell Ya Friends is impressive enough for listeners to share with their friends, just as Chip The Ripper had hoped, as he looks to continue to add to his underground buzz.
