T.I. : PRISON FIGHTS? UH-OH!
JAY-Z AND KANYE SUED OVER SAMPLE ON “WATCH THE THRONE” !!
DRAKE ADDRESSES JAY AND PUSHA-T DISSES….
Detox Gets A Preview and Dre Prioritizes Kendrick and Slim! [youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jPNiCeR-8aA&w=420&h=315] By the sound of it, the track could be called “Hey Young World.” The video was captured at Encore Studios in L.A. Keep holding your breath for a full album, though… Dre recently spoke to Global Grind and told them about his decision to focus on making music with/for Kendrick Lamar and Slim the Mobster for the next few years: “As soon as I get back to Los Angeles, I am back in the studio doing my thing. I have a couple of new artists that I am excited about, Kendrick Lamar and Slim The Mobster. These are the next two artists, and these are probably my final two artists that I am going to be working with at least for the next couple of years. I am going to devote all my attention to them and make sure their sh*t comes out the way it should be.” Geez, Dre. Spread the love (and great beats) around a little more! John Singleton to Direct Tupac Biopic? After being attached to N.W.A.’s Straight Outta Compton film, there has been recent talk that director Craig Brewer (Hustle & Flow, Footloose) will be taking over that gig, as John Singleton has moved on to the Tupac movie. Director Antoine Fuqua (Training Day) has already left the project. Singleton is no stranger to Tupac, as he directed the rapper/actor in Poetic Justice back in ’93. Should he even be worrying about bringing the lives of Hip-Hop stars to film, or more concerned with making a good movie period? (He really hasn’t since Four Brothers or Baby Boy). Nicki Minaj on Where She’ll Be in Five Years… “I’ll have hundreds of millions of dollars. I will have put out five albums and will have an Oscar and Grammys. And I will be getting married and, a couple of years after that, will have a bun in the oven.” Nothing wrong with setting goals for yourself, but an Oscar? Really, Nicki? Keep dreaming. Rumor Quickies: -Georgetown University offers a class called “Sociology of Hip-Hop: Jay-Z.” We say…teach! -Warner Bros. is in pre-production on 42, a film about the life of Jackie Robinson. -Tyler, the Creator interviewed Nas for XXL Magazine and asked him what we have all been dying to know…his favorite cheese… “Swiss. Cheddar for the most of my life. Today, it’s Swiss.” Now that we know Nas’ cheese preferences, we can all sleep at night. -Starting next week, Beats by Dre can be purchased in different colors: black, purple, silver, orange, red, and pink. -Prepare yourselves… Die Hard 5 A Good Day to Die Hard is on the way! -American Music Awards nominees for 2011 include Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Kanye West, Pitbull, Chris Brown, Kelly Rowland, Beyonce, and of course…THE THRONE.
(AllHipHop News) The trial of Roc Nation artist K. Koke began earlier this week in the United Kingdom. K. Koke is a popular rapper in the UK, who had just inked a deal with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation management company, when he was charged with attempted murder in April of 2011. The rapper, born Kevin Georgiou, is accused of being part of a gang that shot a 27-year-old man during a dispute at the Harlesden train station on March 9. The incident unfolded during an altercation between the victim, and a group of youths who were with K. Koke. During the altercation, one of the teens associated with K. Koke retrieved a 12 gauge shotgun, chased the victim, and shot him on the train platform. In addition to K. Koke, three teenaged boys and a 17-year-old girl are accused in the shooting as well.
Beyonce’ and Jay-Z rarely address rumors directly. Typically, the rest of us just aren’t that important to their fabulous lives! BUT, when it comes to talking mess about their seed, the Carters are not having it! Beyonce’s publicist, Yvette Noel-Schure, spoke with ABC News on Tuesday about all of the fake baby bump insanity that’s been going on over the past few days since Bey’s appearance on the Australian show, Sunday Night HD. According to Noel-Schute, the rumors are “stupid, ridiculous, and false.” In fact, Beyonce’ has been showing off her growing belly in bikini pics and her new video for the song “Countdown.” Frankly, Bey, we’re glad you’ve put an end to the nonsense, at least for now. You may still have to take a camera into the delivery room in February to convince some of these nutty folks, though.
ACTOR HUGH JACKMAN IS A HUGE HIP-HOP FAN! CHECK THIS OUT!
A hugely successful 90-city comedy tour. Top hosting duties at the BET Awards and the MTV Video Music Awards. Shooting a pilot for a new TV show. Dropping a concert film on September 9. More movies coming soon. All in 2011. Comedian/actor Kevin Hart might be the definition of “hustle, hustle hard.” He’s obviously tired, or possibly getting bored with doing back-to-back press interviews. AllHipHop.com encountered an unusually calm, soft-spoken person named Kevin Hart recently – his demeanor light years away from the loud, funny man who is currently kicking in the door on Hollywood. He yawned twice during the interview, but still managed to laugh at a few of the interviewer’s brave attempts at jokes. He earns a pass on the yawns. Hart works like crazy and is obviously a little man on a big mission: AllHipHop.com: This has been like a crazy, breakthrough year for you – hosting multiple awards shows and the comedy tour and everything. What’s this ride been like for you so far? Kevin Hart: It’s been hectic but it’s been great. You know. I wouldn’t ask for this experience to be different at all. You know what I mean? The rise and growth of my success level has been crazy, and the reason why is because I got to see it gradually grow in the past 14 years of me being involved in entertainment and this particular profession. So, I’m thankful and humbled to be where I am right now. AllHipHop.com: I want to tell you that the more you blow up, the taller you’re looking to me! [laughter] I think you’d grown a few inches when I saw you on the VMAs. Kevin Hart: That’s a good thing! [laughter] That’s a beautiful thing. AllHipHop.com: No doubt! You hold it down for the little guys. [laughter] OK, so “Laugh At My Pain,” the concert tour – I read that you grossed $15 million in two days, breaking Eddie Murphy’s record. Are you sprinkling crack on the tickets? [laughter] Or, why do you think people are filling the seats so fast? Kevin Hart: [laughter] It was that I grossed $15 million throughout the tour dates. If I grossed $15 million in two days, you wouldn’t see me. I’d be somewhere living on an island, you know what I mean? My money would be ridiculous. So, basically we broke Eddie Murphy’s record in ticket sales for the show that I did at the Nokia Theater, which was like $1.4 million in ticket sales in a day. That was crazy. Kevin Hart: Any type of acknowledgement you get, when people can look and see what you’ve done in the past, that’s huge. For my fans to be as loyal as they are and support they way that they support, it’s unbelievable, you know? The feeling is indescribable, but I try not to think about it that much because I’m not content. I’m not content with my level of success. I want to get further and you know, the only way to get further is to set your goals pretty high. So, before I achieve all of those goals that I’ve set, I don’t want to look back on my accomplishments and kind of bask in whatever little glory there may be. You know, because there’s so much more to come. AllHipHop.com: Let me ask you about the inspiration behind “Laugh At My Pain.” To me, that kind of sounds like that saying about the “tears of a clown,” or someone who has been teased or bothered, but has learned to laugh at himself despite other people. Is that what that means? Kevin Hart: Well, here’s where it comes from. The title, “Laugh At My Pain,” basically comes from me saying hey, you know what? I’ve talked about so many things. I’ve talked about family, I’ve talked about my kids, I’ve talked about me and my involvement in so many things. I’ve yet to talk about a darker side. I’ve yet to dig into what could be considered as pain, so I wanted to talk about the things that kind of bothered me coming up – from my dad being involved with drugs, to my mom passing away, to me going through relationship turmoil – so many things that people wouldn’t necessarily laugh at. I wanted to talk about it, and give people my point of view and perspective on what’s been going on and how I feel about it, what my opinion is, and you know what? I found a unique way to do it so people can laugh at it. AllHipHop.com: Well, I know the tabloids have been going kind of hard on you over the past two years with your personal life and everything. How do you keep your cool, and keep the smile on your face? Or, do you just consider that as part of your initiation, like you’ve come of age? Kevin Hart: Yes, of course, I would be a fool not to see it and not to realize it. I just don’t like to dwell on it. AllHipHop.com: OK, you don’t like to dwell on it, but do you have anything to say to your naysayers? Kevin Hart: What? To people that say good or bad things? AllHipHop.com: To people who have something negative to say about you who don’t know you basically, except for your art… Kevin Hart: Oh, well, that’s the beauty of people. Everyone always has something to say, and it’s not always going to be good. Sometimes negative stuff is the stuff you should listen to the most. They could be saying something that other people are afraid to say. I don’t look at everything as hate. You gotta find a positive in everything. At the end of the day, I know that I’m good at my profession. I know that I’ve chosen the right career. But I’m not perfect. I don’t strive to be perfect. I don’t act as if I’m perfect. I’m a human. I make […]
Honestly, I’m not sure if rock-n-roll enthusiasts debate over the G.O.A.T. in the same manner Hip-Hop junkies discuss the best MC. If there is a raging discussion, I’d definitely throw the Red Hot Chilli Peppers in the arena of candidates right there with acts like The Rolling Stones and U2 (personal preference, people!). Now, it is safe to say that the Red Hot Chilli Peppers (presently comprised of Anthony Kiedis, Michael “Flea” Balzary, Chad Smith and Josh Klinghoffer) don’t care about those trivial matters so we won’t walk down that path. However, AllHipHop.com had the unique opportunity to talk Hip-Hop with Flea, the master bass player of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. The result is a really cool interview with a legend that likes Dilla so much, he shed tears of inspiration. Enjoy this conversation as Flea extols Hip-Hop from Grand Master Flash to Ghostface to Odd Future and check for part 2, where he delves even deeper. (Editor’s Note, the rest of the conversation with Flea continues in a separate piece, where he explains The Red Hot Chilli Peppers’ new album, I’m With You.) AllHipHop.com: Definitely. Um, since this is AllHipHop.com I have to ask you, how do you, you know, you guys have always had a slight edge of hip hop to your music. And even more so depending on who you ask, um, what are your thoughts on hip hop? Who do you like? Who do you appreciate, you know? Flea: I go through phases, you know? I’m actually, right now, I was doing this thing. I was playing with Erykah Badu a while ago, you know, and she really…(got me into J. Dilla) AllHipHop.com: Yeah? Flea: …and I know about J Dilla a little bit and she really… AllHipHop.com: Yeah? Flea: …she got me hooked. And for, like, the last month that’s all I’ve listened to. AllHipHop.com: Really? Flea: Actually, like, I was up in his house in the mountains? And I was up there listening to, I think, the rough draft EP of J Dilla? AllHipHop.com: OK. Flea: It was like brought me to tears because of how beautiful it is. And then… AllHipHop.com: Wow. Flea: …and then (as a kid) I discovered – growing up Jimi Hendrix was my big thing, you know? And it was like, as a kid, it was almost, like, what raised me, you know? Like almost, like, almost like a guiding light to believe in. AllHipHop.com: Right, right. Flea: And that’s how it started out with Dilla, man. It’s just, like, right now it’s kind of consuming me. AllHipHop.com: Yeah? Flea: Like the depth and the width and the long, the far-reachingness of everything he did. The different styles within the, you know, Hip-Hop beats. You know what I mean? AllHipHop.com: Definitely. Flea: There’s so much just within that music. So lately, that’s my big thing, but man, I love Hip-Hop and I go in and out. There hasn’t been – I’m trying to think – like things that have, like, recently – things that have really excited me. But, um, uh, you know, these kids, uh, um, The Goblin and… AllHipHop.com: Odd Future? Flea: Yeah, the Odd Future kids. I can [relate] just, in terms, like, it’s like wild, you know AllHipHop.com: Yeah. Flea: That real, exciting, you know, type of feeling? AllHipHop.com: Yeah. Flea: But, um, through the years there’s things that I, like, love. Often there’s things that, often, things that to me are really popular and I don’t want to hear it. It’s like one of those things where I’ve got my, like, my tendency is to run the other direction. AllHipHop.com: Yeah. Flea: So it may sound crazy to you, but just recently I’ve gotten into Jay-Z. And it’s new for me! Like, I would hear songs before… AllHipHop.com: Oh, Jay-Z? Flea: Yeah! AllHipHop.com: (Laughs) Flea: Like, I would hear songs before and would know that it was good, but because it was so popular and so huge and on MTV every other minute I would just run the other way, you know? AllHipHop.com: Right. (Laughs) Flea: But, recently I’ve gotten into the Blueprint stuff, but I love Hip-Hop. You know, Wu-tang has been, like, a big thing for me a lot through the years. AllHipHop.com: Yeah. Flea: You know, all the solo records, and I love Ghostface and The Apollo Kids he came out with this year. It was good. Um, you know, I go back to all kinds of stuff that I love, like, I’m sitting here with my five year old and turning her on to music. I pull out my Grandmaster Flash and my Sugarhill records, you know? AllHipHop.com: Right, right. Flea: ‘Cause for a little kid it’s so colorful. AllHipHop.com: Yeah. Flea: And exciting. You know, because she’s sitting there in the morning and I’m making her breakfast and she’s like, “Papa?”, and I said, “What?” She said, “I don’t like to brag, I don’t like to boast, but I like hot butter on my breakfast toast.” AllHipHop.com: (Laughs) Flea: So it’s like that, you know, for me, like I said before, it’s like there’s music that’s artistically exciting, and timeless, and there’s music that isn’t. AllHipHop.com: Yeah. Flea: And categories just don’t really mean a lot to me. You know? I love Hip-Hop and always have, you know? Since I was in high school and Sugarhill Gang was really big I’ve always been into Hip-Hop, you know?

We’re told Tupac’s mother, Afeni Shakur, is aware of the tape — and has told her spokesperson, “Get the legal team ready because [we] will not allow someone to put it out.” Currently, the Shakur estate is trying to single out the person(s) responsible for the marketing of the tape. It is believed that the female featured in the video is behind the sale. For those that don’t know…the tape is said to be from 1991, is 5 minutes long, and features a woman going down on Mr. Shakur. How exciting! Not. Jay-Z Has Some Words for J. Cole Who Has Some Words For Fans: “J. Cole’s success is testament to amazing artist development and Cole’s hard work,” Jay-Z said, via press release. “I want to congratulate him on a #1 album, and more importantly, a great body of work.” [youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ta31f36ECxw&w=560&h=315] Cole World: The Sideline Story is in stores now! The Transporter’s Jason Statham will be joining the cast for the next two Fast and Furious sequels which will be filming back-to-back for release in 2013 and 2014. The theme song for ESPN’s Monday Night Football has been dropped after Hank Williams Jr.’s remarks about Obama and Hitler on a nationally televised news show last week. Williams has since apologized, but uhhh… America can rest easy for another four years. Sarah Palin WILL NOT be running for President in 2012. Thank God. Ron Artest Metta World Peace is taking his skills from the NBA to the “Laff Mobb,” a comedy group based out of L.A. His first big show will be on 10/28 at Planet Hollywood in Vegas.
T.I.’S NEW STUDIO ARRANGEMENT! So, you know the word is out on T.I. Tip is NOT going back to jail and people are making sure he doesn’t, from what I am hearing. One thing that will be cool for people into the environment is, I heard T.I. will be in a super high tech state of the art “green studio” in Atlanta. I heard this place is awesome! I heard they use stuff like recycled materials and solar energy. Most of all, I heard there’s not alcohol or other such items allowed that may create and unsavory climate for Tip. Waiting for the King to take that throne back. JOE BUDDEN’S SHOT AT JAY-Z? So, the word on the streets is that Joe Budden took a lil’ shot at Kanye and Jay-Z in his freestyle at the BET Hip-Hop Awards cypher. He said: “I’m not watching the throne / I’m sabotaging it.” Interesting. But, here is the other side, Joe Budden has reportedly claimed that this IS NOT a SHOT at Jay and ‘Ye. How can he expect us to take it any other way? Some of you yung bucks may not be aware, but Joe and Jay have been beefing in varying degrees for years. This is just another page in the continuing saga.
