OPINION: Mannie Fresh Says There Will Be No Labels In 20 Years
The music industry has certainly changed dramatically in the last 15 or so years. Actually, the record label machines have not changed very much, but the circumstances surrounding it have. Basically, artists are finding ways of usurping the majors more and more these days. In the 90s artists like Master P and Cash Money were so hot in the streets, they commanded millions when they joined forces with the majors. These days, those dollars have dried up, but hip-hop continues to leverage the power of the underground without the majors. Mannie Fresh, the beat maestro that provided the foundation for Cash Money, has reasoned that in a couple decades there will be no need for labels at all. Check out the video. Lupe Fiasco Releases Tracklist and Blacks Out Album Cover for New Album “Food and Liquor 2”
Photo credit: Brian Moghadam (AllHipHop News) Lupe Fiasco, has released the tracklist and blacked out on his album art for his new album, Food and Liquor 2: Great American Rap Album Pt. 1, due in stores and on Amazon on September 25. The album cover is pitch black with no title except a mandatory “parental advisory explicit content” label. Over the past two weeks, visuals for Fiasco’s singles “B*tch Bad” and “Battle Scars” with Guy Sebastian have hit the net. In his most recent released “Battle Scars”, Fiasco tells viewers to “turn off your computer right now, and go outside and do something to change the world.” When asked by super producer Mannie Fresh if he has made the definitive song of his career yet for 2cent TV, Lupe tells Fresh that his song “Form Follows Function”, which is featured on his upcoming album, is the only song not featured on a mixtape that he feels has touched “the bottom of rapper’s heaven. On the pure side, I’m always on the pursuit to make the ultimate song for me… There’s another record on the new album called “Form Follows Function” that’s close,” says Fiasco. Hip-Hop Rumors: Click Here To See Pusha-T’s Secret Weapon For Lil Wayne!
Man oh man, I just realized this post never posted onto AllHipHop.com. This is a straight illseed exclusive so I had to make sure it got to you all. Check it out below! ———— If you’ve been on illseed.com lately, you would already know this info. Since, you missed it, I’ll give you some more information. Here is a direct quote EXCLUSIVELY from my source so please give credit to illseed.com if you use any of this information. “Mannie Fresh…Pusha’s new diss towards Wayne and Drake is epic. I don’t want to say too much about it because it will leak this week if things line up right. But I can 1000% confirm that Mannie Fresh is the feature. He is signed to G.O.O.D.” I, motha frackin illseed, am getting word that Mannie Fresh is 1000% confirmed as the guest feature that will side with Pusha T in his new beef ( that is really old) with Lil Wayne. From what I heard, whatever they are working on is EPIC. Now, for those that don’t and there are a lot of people that don’t know, Mannie Fresh was the musical architect that helped build Cash Money into an empire. After a while, his money was funny, he said, and he had to defect. And, some of you don’t realize that Pusha T has had beef with Lil Wayne for a long time. The Clipse even did a song for him called “Mr. Me Too. Anyway, those that don’t know know now. Mannie Fresh was all up in the mix! He probably knows where the bodies are buried, but has mostly quiet in the whole thing. Here is what Mannie Fresh was saying in an interview with AHH: AllHipHop.com: Okay, that’s was sup. You’ve recently did an interview with a magazine and I think the headline on it was pretty sensational. Mannie Fresh: “Slavery with Cash Money”, and I will say this dude, that was ignorance on the magazine. That was to sell, and if you read the article the interview was nothing about that, they just did that to sell, whatever it is that they do, to keep up mess or whatever. I’m not apologizing for nothing, I made that statement in the interview and out of the whole interview that was what they took out of it. AllHipHop.com: yeah, I feel you, I guess you obviously weren’t misquoted but can you kind of explain the statement itself, what you were saying.? Mannie Fresh: I mean, truthfully it’s basically based on this. I did albums for Cash Money, I didn’t do singles, I did whole albums for Cash Money, and at the end of the day I’m saying I wasn’t paid for albums so its like you’re doing 10 songs and somebody pays you for 1. What would that be equivalent to? I just said hey this is an example of what it would be equivalent to and its no secret that everybody know why I left Cash Money. We’re on speaking terms now but truth be told, yeah it was behind money, everybody know what it was. AllHipHop.com: You say you guys are on speaking terms with Baby, Wayne and them? Like you think you may work with them again or you just keeping it moving? Mannie Fresh: In truth, I will work with them again based on this, if they cut the check. Its not going to be based on just some words but we done talked about that, we done been there and by the grace of God, we ain’t enemies, none of us hate each other but business is business and that was a hard lesson for me to learn. I was in love with doing music, I wasn’t paying attention to my business so I’m not even going to say that was all Cash Money’s fault that was my fault as well but I was a young dude that didn’t know any better. So now that I know better, I’m not going to plug in my scene with out doing business and I got my beats and my paper work right. What do you think of this? Is Mannie a game CHANGER? Kanye Wants Big Sean to “Be Better Than Me”
From our friends at Vibe G.O.O.D. Music rapper Big Sean has high hopes. The Detroit rapper hit big with his debut album, “Finally Famous,” and is now completing the G.O.O.D Music compilation while working on his sophomore album. Big Sean got some advice from his mentor Kanye West, who is encouraging him to be the best of what his generation has to offer. “Kanye said ‘I want you to be better than me and better than [Jay-Z],’” Big Sean shared. “‘I want you to be the best, because you’re the younger generation. We’re passing our secrets on to you.” The G.O.O.D. Music compilation is due sometime this spring. Photos revealed a session in Los Angeles with Common, Big Sean, and CyHI the Prince. Teyana Taylor and Omarion were also pictured in the studio. The album is also rumored to feature Mannie Fresh, Jay Electronica, and Frank Ocean. Read more about Big Sean and his big dreams here.

“Talented” Sums Up the G.O.O.D. Music Crew According to Mannie Fresh
From our friends at Vibe.com Could it be that Hip-Hop is entering into a new “Golden Age?” It was just a few short years ago that people constantly complained about the lack of creativity and ingenuity in Hip-Hop. But, recent years have seen an influx of creative new artists who have added value to the landscape. One of the crews leading the pack is the G.O.O.D. Music roster led by Kanye West. With a crew that includes the veteran Clipse MC, Pusha T, actor/rapper/weird guy, Kid Cudi, and newcomer, Detroit heartthrob, Big Sean. Add West, and G.O.O.D Music has more than enough spitters on their team. Sprinkle in production from Hit-Boy, and you have a good start. Then, the industry was surprised and intrigued when West added veteran hitmaker, Mannie Fresh, who compares G.O.O.D. Music to a “hit factory.” “There are so many talented people that are on G.O.O.D. Music that it’s nuts,” Mannie Fresh glows. “You have so many people that you are working with that it’s unlimited. I can’t say what it’s structured around. It’s more so a music factory.” Mannie Fresh created classic hits with Cash Money, the parent of the still-hot YMCMB that is serving up music with Drake and Nicki Minaj on its roster. He states that he has known Kanye since his days at Cash Money,” I’ve been knowing dude forever. Kanye knows what I’m about.” Read the full story here.

Hip-Hop Rumors: G.O.O.D. Music Single Coming on Good Friday?!
That’s the word around the Internet, and it’s a good word at that because Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music compilation is easily one of the most anticipated records of the year. Boasting the likes of Kanye, Kid Cudi, Pusha T, Mr. Hudson, CyHi Da Prynce, John Legend, Big Sean, Jay Electronica, Frank Ocean, Mannie Fresh, Marsha Ambrosius, Hit-Boy, and many, many more, the album is going to not only be the first Kanye release of 2012, it will also serve as the launching pad for fans to begin getting prepared for solo debuts from Pusha T, CyHi Da Prynce, and the sequel to last year’s Finally Famous from Big Sean. On top of the “rumors” about the forthcoming “Good Friday” track, Mannie Fresh recently told MTV News that the album is “pretty close” to being finished. “The cool thing about G.O.O.D. Music is it’s a bunch of great ideas and I’m one of those ideas. Kanye’s trying to find the most talented producers, most talented artists, put ’em all in a room and say, ‘Go for it. Y’all energy, like whatever is creative to y’all.’” Stay tuned folks, “Good Friday” hits in two weeks on April 6…
