TDE’s Black Hippy Movement Tapped to Headline NYC’s Downtown Festival

(AllHipHop News) As summer time rolls around and the weather gets warmer, your favorite concerts and festivals are getting ready to hit a city near you. For Hip-Hop fans that will be in the New York City area next month, the Downtown Festival is set to kick off May 10th and 11th on New York City’s Lower East Side. California’s Black Hippy movement has been tapped to headline the festival as the crew of Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q, Ab-Soul, and Jay Rock will take the stage on Friday at 1 a.m. Also joining the festival will be Odd Future (OFWGKTA) rapper Earl Sweatshirt, who is signed to Columbia records and Mr. Muthafuckin Exquire. Festival organizers have prided themselves on making the festival big in sound, but small in venue size, as the festival looks to take over a host of intimate venues in NYC including but not limited to: Element, Mercury Lounge, Bowery Ballroom, Pianos, Cake Shop, Tammany Hall, and the Rockwood Music Hall. Adding to the allure of the festival, concert organizers are giving away (2) VIP tickets to the festival for both nights via a Facebook contest. Contestants looking to win tickets merely need to share information about the festival on their Facebook wall. In addition to general admission tickets, the Downtown Festival also has “super fan” tickets which guarantee access to one venue and are not viable for any of the other festival locations. For more information and for a chance to win concert tickets, share this Facebook page on your wall.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Quickies Edition With Danny Brown, Kanye West, The Outlawz, Tech N9ne And More!

Mr. MFN eXquire Is The “New Biggie For New York”? Yup, according to Detroit rapper and Fool’s Gold artist Danny Brown, who was making some noise last week for calling Mac Miller “the worst guy around.” In a recent interview with XXL Brown said, ““[He’s a] Big Brooklyn n*FFA with bars. The verse from [his track] ‘The Song That Never Ends’ is the best verse of the year. Real recognize real. He’s the new Biggie for New York. I see it.” [youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nzcFjJSgWfE&w=560&h=315] SOUND OFF! Twista and Tech N9ne Project Is A No Go! That Twista and Tech N9ne project, Midwest Fury, that was supposed to be dropping sometime this year has officially been deaded. It was all a rumor, which is a shame ’cause that project would have been CRAZY! Kanye West, Creative Director of The Jetsons Movie!? We’ve all seen or heard about Kanye’s Twitter announcement/essay/rant/whatever you call it from last night. Well, something that may have slipped through the cracks based on everything else Yeezy was announcing was this intriguing yet ridiculous sounding “reveal”: I was just discussing becoming the creative director for the Jetson movie, and someone on the call yelled out…you should do a Jetsons tour! … This just happened a few hours ago. I was very insulted of course because for anyone that’s seen the Watch the Throne Tour… Or Coachella or Glow in the Dark or Runaway.. you know I have real ideas… The only concrete thing to be taken away from that is that there’s a Jetsons movie being made at some time in the near future, and Yeezy may be connected to it. Until then… Tha Outlawz and Lil Cease “Bury the Hatchet”: [youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OOKjH5hhQKM&w=560&h=315] Shouts to Kay Slay!
