(AllHipHop News) The Red Bull EmSee competition is hitting the East coast this week, as MC’s will battle it out in Boston, Massachusetts with Bun B hosting and Rakim, Pharoahe Monch and Jean Grae serving as the judges and special guest performers. The event is part of an eight city tour, that pits competitors against each other, for a chance to compete in the finals in Atlanta this fall, along with an opportunity to record with the headlining producer of his or her choice. “The format of the challenge forces you to stick to the true essence of freestyling, which I think gives it freshness and definite authenticity,” said reigning Red Bull EmSee National Champion, Fowl. There is an added twist to the conventional head-to-head battles, as MC’s are put through a variety of challenges to showcase their skills. The rappers are judged on technique, creativity and dexterity, in addition to visual cues and themes text messaged to a screen, by judges and the audience. The competition takes place on Wednesday (October 5th) competition will take place at Royale, 279 Tremont St Boston, MA.  Doors open at 8pm and the show gets started at 9:30.
