Cappadonna Delves Into Skateboarding
(AllHipHop News) Cappadonna, of the Wu Tang regime, has made a huge branding leap forward with a new deal with Outbreak Boards for a limited edition skate collection, The rapper presents the “The Killa Bee” line that intends to showcase skateboards with Cappadonna’s unique flair. “I wanted to give an alternative to young people to do besides drugs and guns, especially in hoods across the nation. I believe skateboarders and hip hop go hand in hand, both independently free.” stated Cappadonna in a statement. The skate decks are to be crafted with Canadian Maple wood and accessorized with colorful sticker decals, custom designed clothing, hats and accessories. Outbreak Boards and Cappadonna will host a press conference and launch party June 22 in Bridgeport, CT. Photos of Lil Wayne’s ‘Supra Spectrum’ Sneaks Hit The Net
(AllHipHop News) In June 2012 skateboarding footwear company Supra announced that they were partnering with rap star Lil Wayne for a set of designer sneakers inspired and supervised by the Young Money boss. According to sneakernews.com, Wayne’s new “Supra Spectrum” design is finally close to a release date, and photos of the skate shoes have surfaced online. Lil Wayne and Supra’s latest collaboration are a set of high-top sneakers featuring several different colorways. Ideally, the Spectrums are constructed for both casual wear and for skating. Previously, Supra debuted the mid-top Stevie Williams S1W last year. The S1Ws were a joint design effort between Wayne and the famous professional skater. Wayne was responsible for designing the colorway for Williams’ signature shoe. “It’s dope,” said Lil Wayne about partnership with Williams. “It’s super dope. Stevie’s a legend, so to even be involved in anything Stevie’s doing is crazy, man—and then to be part of his shoe? Lil Wayne’s DEWeezy Skate Park Slated To Open August 29 in New Orleans
(AllHipHop News) Lil Wayne’s skatepark being launched in conjunction with Mountain Dew is slated to open in New Orleans at the end of this month, according to representatives for the rapper and Mountain Dew. A ribbon cutting ceremony for the DEWeezy Skate Park, which is in the city’s 9th Ward area, is slated for August 29. Reps for Mountain Dew hope the new state-of-the-art, eco-friendly skatepark will become a center of the community, which was devastated by and is still recovering from, the impact of Hurricane Katrina, which caused $81 billion worth of damages in 2005. “We are thrilled to move forward with the next phase of the DEWeezy campaign,” said Lil Wayne’s manager Cortez Bryant, co-CEO of Blueprint Group. “Lil Wayne is passionate about skateboarding and the New Orleans community and this campaign fits those passions together seamlessly.” The rapper’s DEWeezy skatepark in New Orleans is part of a broader advertising and marketing deal Lil Wayne struck with Mountain Dew in March. In addition to the skatepark, Mountain Dew is seeking fans of Lil Wayne, to submit inspirational content for possible inclusion in Lil Wayne’s next Mountain Dew commercial. “We’ve been looking forward to announcing this phase of the DEWeezy Project and getting our consumers involved,” added Brett O’Brien, Vice President of Marketing, Mountain Dew. “The campaign is about igniting creativity and celebrating people who follow their passion – like Lil Wayne has with skateboarding. EXCLUSIVE: Lil Wayne Separates Shoulder Skating; Rapper Discusses Injury
(AllHipHop News) Lil Wayne took the time to speak with AllHipHop.com on the set of the video for French Montana’s “Pop Dat” featuring French Montana, Rick Ross and Drake. On the set, the rapper revealed that he suffered a shoulder injury while he was skating on the road, in support of his recently launched Trukfit clothing line. “I separated my shoulder like four weeks ago and I didn’t go to rehab,” Lil Wayne told AllHipHop.com. “It hurts like f**k.” In the clip, Lil Wayne shows what appears to be his shoulder bone protruding from his skin. It was so sore, the rap star wouldn’t even let the scantily clad models floating around on the set touch it. “I would let them [give me a massage] but my s**t is really tender to the touch, I can’t even let no one touch it,” Lil Wayne told AllHipHop.com. Hip-Hop Rumors: Lil’ Wayne to Debut New Skateboarding Clothing Line?!
Lil’ Wayne has just announced that he is ready to debut his new clothing line “Trukfit.” The new line will feature clothes dedicated to the culture of skateboarding and quality street wear. I’m not sure what this line will look like, since lately, Weezy has been dressing like a pre-teen girl from the Valley.
