(AllHipHop Features) The WWE’s annual Wrestlemania is the Super Bowl, Academy Awards, and presidential election of professional wrestling – an event where icons are etched into the annals of sports entertainment. The 32nd edition of Wrestlemania is scheduled to take place in Arlington, Texas on April 3, and more grapplers will certainly use the occasion to cement their legacy in the memories of wrestling fans across the globe. In preparation for WM32, AllHipHop.com connected with lifelong wrestling enthusiast Smoke DZA to get the Harlem emcee’s opinion on the greatest masters of the squared circle. The creator of the Ringside mixtape series and co-host of the newly launched Heels N Faces podcast explains why the following icons make his list of “Top 5 Pro Wrestlers Dead Or Alive.” [ALSO READ: EXCLUSIVE: Smoke DZA Talks ‘He Has Risen’ Joint Album With Harry Fraud, NYC Hip Hop & Expanding His Film Career] Hulk Hogan My number 1 is Hulk Hogan. Right or wrong, racist or not, that’s my man. I’m rocking with the Hulkster number one over everybody. Hulk Hogan is the Michael Jordan, the Wayne Gretzky, the Vince Lombardi, the John Madden – whatever face you can think of for whatever sport, he’s that. Hulk Hogan was my version of Superman or Batman. Wrestling was my version of cartoons, so Hulk Hogan was that for me. I was all about Hulkamania. Even with the “say your prayers” and “eat your vitamins” spiel, I was sold on that. He did more for wrestling – outside of wrestling – than any other wrestler to enter the squared circle. Ric Flair He’s the picture of what flamboyance should be when you look in the dictionary. From a wrestler standpoint, he was the total package – the ultimate heel, could talk on the mic like none other, could draw heat from anywhere, and he was the flyest dude. He was all about Learjets, limousines, Rolexes, and a different suit every time. Ric Flair was a flamboyant motherf*cker. So I definitely give Ric Flair number 2. Shawn Michaels Shawn Michaels is my number 3. He was the first undersized guy to be considered World Champion material, and I feel like he held down the WWF during the “Attitude Era” to where it was still able to compete with WCW because they had DX [D-Generation X]. He retired on the highest of the high, so I feel like he probably still has sh*t left in the tank. Bret Hart Number 4 would be Bret Hart. He was the ultimate technician. He was the face of Canada before Drake. [laughs] He was the ultimate good guy, and he was the best technical wrestler to ever wrestle in the squared circle. “Stone Cold” Steve Austin/The Rock I’d probably let Austin and The Rock share number 5, because they ushered the 90’s into some other sh*t. That whole “Attitude Era” was competing against WCW and going against the grain. I would let them share the 5 spot. This may be the final chapter of Fast and Furious
(AllHipHop News) The death of Paul Walker has sparked worldwide mourning, but his friends from the movie “Fast and Furious” are reeling. Tyrese, Ludacris and The Rock finally posted comments on social media after the revelation that their co-star had died in a car crash yesterday. Yesterday, Walker and a friend were driving his new Porsche when the driver lost control, striking a pole or a tree. The car exploded into flames, killing both people. At press time, the driver was not determined.
Swiped from illseed.com… (Rumors) Rihanna is about to get straight up evil if the rumors are correct. No, she’s not throwing bricks through anybody’s flat screen like she used to do with Chris Brown! No, I am hearing that she is getting her way deep into Hollywood with a new movie – Fast and Furious 6/Fast Six. Seriously, how many of these godawful movies are they going to make? Vin Diesel has to be happen since this is the only movie he appears in these days. Nevertheless, word on the block Rihanna is set to be in the movie as a villain. According to The UK Sun, a source said, “Rihanna impressed with her acting debut in Battleship. Writers think she’ll be perfect for the role. Her character has plenty of bite and doesn’t take any prisoners — just like her in real life. It’s a step up the ladder for her and could lead to bigger action roles.’” Not a lot more else to say other than RiRi may be playing along side of Vin Diesel, The Rock and Paul Walker.
An action figure based on the character Blind Master that rapper, producer, and actor RZA is portraying in this summer’s G.I. Joe Retaliation, has been revealed at the 109th Annual American International Toy Fair. Hasbro, who is creating the upcoming toy line for the film release on June 29, displayed figures for a number of the film’s characters, such as Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s Roadblock, Channing Tatum’s Duke, Bruce Willis’ Joe Colton, and RZA’s Blind Master. The 3.75-inch action figures, which will be released this summer along with others based on the film, are sculpted to match their on-screen counterparts and will be priced at $7.99. G.I. Joe is the brand that practically invented action figures back in 1964 when the company, along with toy producer Hasbro, released the original 12-inch line based on the different branches of the U.S Armed Forces. RZA’s Blind Master character is a martial arts sensei and part of the Arashikage ninja clan that also includes other popular G.I. Joe characters Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow. The 2012 Toy Fair, which attracts over 1,000 annual, worldwide exhibitors showcasing their upcoming product lines, is currently taking place at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City. “Whatever deity guides my life/ Dear Lord, don’t let me die tonight.” -Jay-Z The “immortal words of Jay-Z” from his song “Don’t Let Me Die” have been so eloquently recited by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson at the beginning of the new television spot for Paramount Pictures’ G.I. Joe: Retaliation, which is set to air this Sunday during the Super Bowl. The action-packed film, set to hit theaters on June 29, is the sequel to 2009’s G.I. Joe: The Rise Of Cobra and stars Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Channing Tatum, RZA, Adrianne Palicki, Bruce Willis, and more. G.I. Joe Retaliation, which is being directed by Jon Chu, follows a small group of remaining Joe’s on a journey for revenge after their base is attacked by Cobra Commander and a majority of their ranks are killed. Clifford “Tip” Harris Jr. is no stranger to the world of acting. The Grammy Award-winning rapper has transitioned to “actor” over the past few years, with roles in some high profile movies like American Gangster, ATL, Takers and even appearing on the hit HBO show, Entourage. In a recent interview with Sister 2 Sister magazine, it was revealed that the Rubberband Man could have elevated his “star” to enormous heights in 2012 had he not violated his probation with that infamous traffic stop. The run-in with the cops put Tip back in the slammer for 11 months, while he was out promoting Takers and his new album at the time, No Mercy. “I was supposed to be in the film Tower Heist with Ben Stiller. The Eddie Murphy movie. I was supposed to be in that. And I wasn’t able, obviously, to be there. G.I. Joe II (G.I. Joe: Retaliation), they called me for that. World War Z with Brad Pitt. They called me for that. The Joel Silver movie (Bullet to the Head) – I would have been co-starring with Sylvester Stallone. They called me for that too.“ DAMN, Tip!! There’s always next year! The “Stringer Bell for James Bond” Talk Keeps Going! The rumors have been around for awhile, and last night at the Golden Globes, Stringer Bell himself won Best Actor for his role on Luther, and was asked about the James Bond talk that’s been going on the past year or two (Check the :40 second mark)… [youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HaUtWcBLgwA&w=560&h=315] “There was a huge rumour that once Daniel Craig finishes playing Bond that they were looking for someone different and my name was in that mix. And I answered a bunch and of questions and the bottom line is of course, I’d be honoured to play the part if it comes my way.” Black Bond? BRING HIM ON!
