Yeti here, back for another edition of the Hollywood
Shuffle. It’s been over a month now since we started this weekly column, and I
just want to thank all of you readers out there for supporting us, leaving
comments and just having fun with it.
Although we always mix it up with the latest Hollywood
gossip, we really want to show the power and influence that Hip-Hop is having
over the film industry. Music is really just one aspect of the Hip-Hop
movement… so let’s get on with it!
Gary
Coleman drives off with wife hanging outside car
Reports are now surfacing that good ol’ lil’ Gary
Coleman was arrested in July 2007 in Provo, Utah for disorderly conduct when he and his
then girlfriend, now wife, 22-year-old Shannon Price got in a heated argument on the side of a road. Their wedding took place last August, but they kept it a secret, as the new Mrs. Coleman did “not want to be known as Gary Coleman’s wife.” (Whatever that means…)Apparently Gary got so mad back in Provo that he
took off in his truck while his wife was half way in it. Price told the media at the time of their wedding announcement this February: “He lets his anger conquer him sometimes. He throws
things around, and sometimes he throws it in my direction.” Indeed. Perhaps the recent revelation that he lost his virginity (at age 40) to his new wife (months after the wedding) will take the edge off.
Black Eyed
Peas take it to the movies
In a strange coincindence, it was officially announced
that Taboo and Will.I.Am of the Black Eyed Peas will be making
their film debuts in two separate action movies. Taboo will be starring in the
upcoming video game adaptation Street
Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li, which is based on the back story of the
popular Street Fighter video game charachter. Although it’s not officially
announced, I have a strong feeling he will play Vega.
Will.I.Am will be doing his acting thing in the big budget
X-Men movie Wolverine. He will play
the teleporting mutant named Kestrel who is a member of the same Weapon X
program as Wolverine. No word on Fergie’s acting career.
The Roots’
?uestlove to star in Soul Men w/ Sam
Jackson
Producer/percussionist ?uestlove
will be starring in the upcoming Samuel L. Jackson and Bernie Mac film Soul Men, which, as we reported last week, will also
star John Legend. ?uestlove stated: “Since it’s a musical film, I won’t be straying too far afield in terms of my
role.”
Although he
does not get into specifics of his role, Hollywood Shuffle can reveal that
?uestlove plays a drummer and former band member of the music group that
Jackson, Legend and Mac’s characters were all once part of. Soul Men comes out in theaters October 10, 2008.
Anthony Anderson and his TV show “K-Ville”
cancelled
Despite
decent ratings, Fox has decided not to renew the Anthony Anderson cop show K-Ville. Some consider it a victim of
the now defunct Writer’s Strike – others just say it was time to end it.
Regardless, Anderson is not sitting on the sidelines…he already has a new gig
and will be taking a full time gig in Law
& Order
. Anderson previously guest starred in episodes of Law & Order: SVU.
Kimora cat
fighting with Russell Simmons’ new girlfriend
Rumor has it that Kimora Lee is not too happy with
Russell Simmons’ new girlfriend Porschla Coleman. At the end of 2007, the New
York Post’s Page Six reported Kimora was overheard calling the 23-year-old
model a “stupid b####” (which was refuted by her reps). Recently, Page Six reported that Porschla was flat out
denied entry to the Baby Phat show during New York’s Fashion Week, as Kimora
did not want her take photos with Kimora and Russell’s daughters.
When the folks at TMZ asked Kimora about the
Fashion Week incident
, Kimora (who was out on the town with her new beau DjimonHounsou at the time) simply replied, “Which girlfriend? No. I try to be very polite to all of them.” Regardless, that is one cat fight
I wouldn’t mind watching!
