What’s a
goofy black and white Panda bear to do in a frolicking animated town called
“Valley of Peace,” except grub on homemade noodles and daydream of the coolest Kung
Fu moves around? Prepare for awesomeness, of course!
In the
hilarious comedy Kung Fu Panda starring
over the top crème puff, Jack Black as Po; his days of daydreaming about
martial arts more passionately than the Wu Tang Clan come to an abrupt end when
his family and friends are put in jeopardy.
A ruthless
tyrant and straight up snow leopard badass, Tai Lung, has escaped from an
underground fortress that’s been heavily guarded for years by Commander Vachir,
voiced by Michael Clarke Duncan. This bad m### is dead set on getting his
inheritable right of ownership of the infamous Dragon scroll.
Supposedly,
this scroll has unlimited powers, which if put in the wrong hands could have
devastating effects. So what does any of this have to do with Po?
It’s the
plot that brings this family comedy to a head when Po is unexpectedly cast as a
master who will bring peace back to the valley. Thrust into a world he’s only
dreamed of, Po must now take the lead on bringing Tai Lung down; but first he
has to prove to the true Furious Five Kung Fu masters Tigress (Angelina Jolie), Mantis (Seth Rogen), Viper (Lucy Liu), Crane (David Cross) and Monkey (Jackie Chan) that he belongs on this
fight.
After all,
they’ve trained with Master Shifu; a runt-looking red bear voiced by Dustin
Hoffman, for years and perfected the art of Kung Fu. Meanwhile, Po carries the
weight of a sumo wrestler and the appetite of starved Ethiopian. But
determination and perseverance prevail and Shifu takes a liking to Po, unlike
the Furious Five who take a bit longer to invite him into the fold.
Kung Fu Panda is plain and simply
a story for dreamers young and old, big and small. It teaches all audiences
that you can do it, only if you try. Of course the martial arts sequences and
brilliant comedic banter allow the audience to forget about the long tedious
work that truly goes into the practice of Martial Art.
The magnificent
colors, thrilling sounds, music and gorgeously breathtaking animation make this
a great movie for the family, especially the young ones that will laugh loudly
through the entire movie.
Other than
the scary villainous characters, the plot of redemption is lighthearted and poignant.
You and the kids will enjoy every high kick and side split.
