This has been an interesting week in gaming. PS3 Fans get a
bunch of good news in both the hardware and software fronts, Take-Two has a ton
of heart, and the Wii is catching some late love.
Also, with the start of baseball season we give you a look
at both of the baseball games that matter. Without further ado…play ball!
The Big News
Take-Two vs. EA:
Round 3
It would seem that Take-Two is rebuffing the head honchos at
EA once again. Urging their shareholders not to take the bait at $26 a share,
they want to wait until Grand Theft Auto IV is released on April 29 to look at their options.
Talks haven’t ceased with EA yet, however, as Take-Two seems
to want a bigger piece of pie, or inclusion into the EA family as an
independent studio. More on this as it develops, as this is far from over.
PS3 Firmware 2.20
The bad news: no PSP/ Blu-ray portability, at least not
yet anyway. The good news: everything else. Here is a quick rundown of the
features:
The ability to copy PS3
Music and Photo playlists to a PSP system. You can now play DivX and
WMV format files that are over 2 GB. In addition, you can now display
subtitles when viewing DivX files.Resume Play – begin

Rock Band Wii
Wii owners fear not, the monstrous hit Rock Band will soon be in your hands! You will be able to set up
your own band to slap down rock classics. This game is way too addictive for
anyone’s own good, no matter what kind of music you like. The bundled version with microphone, drums, wireless guitar and software will be available on June 22 for $169.99. Wii owners rejoice!

MLB The Show 08
This is a baseball game for gamers and sports enthusiasts
alike. From the online leagues, to the nearly glitch free experience, to the
presentation of it all, this is the one to get. The only problem is that
everyone cant play it (sorry 360 fans). If you love baseball and you have the
PS3, by all means make sure you get it.
Special shout out to the Ill Community’s Arcade online league.
Played Out
MLB 2k8
I really wanted to like this one, but the fact is the
baseball continues to be the shorthanded game in the 2k lineup. Available for PS3, PS2, Xbox, PSP and Wii, the thought
process behind it is great. It has plenty of innovation, but this thing is
a glitch away from the bargain bin, especially for those who decide to venture
into the franchise mode.
If this had an update to fix the glitches this has the
potential to be just like The Show…but
until then, this isn’t National League – this is AAA ball.
Pre-Order
The racing is back on April 27, ladies and gentleman! The latest
installment of the Mario Kart Series
boasts online racing, bigger tracks, and more competitors to mash it up with
both on and offline. Not to mention it comes packaged with a wheel and allows
for different control methods to suit the gamer, much like Super Smash Brothers Brawl.
If you have a Wii, this should be on your radar, and if it
isn’t, now it is.

contemplating a world takeover, you can find Adam Thomas building the Gamer
