Sunday Selection: Jazmine Sullivan - "Need U Bad" - AllHipHop

Sunday Selection: Jazmine Sullivan – “Need U Bad”

Love is Pain and Pain is Love, and Jazmine Sullivan’s new single “Need U Bad” clearly defines that. A Philadelphia native and a new edition to the J Records roster, Jazmine isn’t a newbie in the game. Now 21, she’s been singing since age five and used to perform along side artists like Jill Scott, Floetry, and others years ago before they were famous as part of Philly’s Black Lily weekly jam sessions.Jazmine has a very strong and mature voice, and in “Need U Bad” it bears a strong resemblance to a legendary artist that graced us with one solo studio album circa 1998. Can you guess who that is? I’ll let you marinate on that. When hearing the chorus of “Need U Bad” it hits you deep inside. If you’ve ever been in love and lost, it takes you back to that moment when you desired your former lover. See the chorus below:Boy I need you bad as a heartbeat, (bad like the food I eat) Bad like the air I breath, (baby I want you bad) I need you bad I cant take this pain, (bad I cant take this pain) Boy I’m bout to go insane (baby I need you bad) ‘Cause I need you, I need you, What I gotta do (baby I want you bad) I need you, I need you, Do it all for you (baby I need you)“Need U Bad” has a very unique sound for radio; it has a reggae tinge and original sound that stands out among the rest. For her upcoming album, Jazmine has worked with the Missy Elliot, Lamb, Salaam Remi, Jack Splash, Tricky, Stargate and Wyclef Jean. After hearing this new single and seeing who she’s collaborated with, I think it’s safe to say that Jazmine’s future looks very bright.Until next week, y’all enjoy this week’s Sunday Selection – “Need U Bad”:
