While signed as a producer-songwriter under Brian Kennedy, waKiL had the opportunity to work on projects for the likes of Big Sean, Frank Ocean, Three Six Mafia, Brandy, Nelly, Kelly Rowland, and more. After contributing to several major projects, waKiL released his debut album Little Giant Epic in November of 2013 and the Kansas City native has racked up over 240,000 plays on Soundcloud since. The Los Angeles resident also scores television and film and on top of already having his work placed on shows like the 50 Cent-produced show Power, as well as 22 Jump Street, Chief waKiL has also recently landed placements on FOX’s smash-hit series Empire, ABC’s How To Get Away With Murder, and the feature film Horrible Bosses 2.
We last heard from waKiL in November when he shared the “LOVE” with his fans and new listeners. Today, the Kansas City, MO emcee returns to make his first appearance of 2015 by linking up with All Def Digital’s “The Signal” to premiere the visuals for “Ambidextrous”, which can be found on his latest album. Enlisting the help of the talented JinjooTheGuitarGirL, waKiL raps about pushing the boundaries of hip-hop and creating his own lane in an industry that has been known to deviate.
