(AllHipHop News) Prolific lyricist Talib Kweli dropped into Red Bull Studios Auckland to take part in David Dallas’ “64 Bars” project.
Video of the performance first premiered on Facebook last July, but the clip has now been uploaded to YouTube.
Kweli used his 64 bars to make references to What’s Happening!!, Michael Jackson, Hip Hop culture, Futurama, the African diaspora, and a lot more.
The emcee/record label executive/activist is currently getting ready to hit the road for concert dates in New Haven, Atlanta, DC, Kansas City, Oakland, and Durham.
Fans will get to see the Javotti Media head perform in his hometown of New York City for shows at the Brooklyn Bowl as well.
Kweli is also in the process of promoting Javotti artist K’Valentine’s Here For A Reason scheduled for release on April 7.
In addition, the “64 Bars” series featured rhymes by Kid$eb, Raiza Biza, DIRTY, Abdul Kay, and INF.
“I’ve always liked hearing an artist go into a radio show – kick a new verse on air, and kill it. Overseas there’s things like Sway’s 5 Fingers of Death freestyles or Charlie Sloth’s Fire in the Booth. We didn’t really have an outlet like that in New Zealand anymore, so we created one,” said Dallas.
