Cut between Basquiat clips and Yasiin, this new joint “Basquiat Ghostwriter” is a great take on abstract poetry and rap. What is the artist formerly known as Mos Def talking about? It’s difficult to say but if you run this song back a few times the message becomes more clear. After challenging his fellow rappers to a battle a few weeks back amidst the Meek Mill & Drake beef, it’s possible that this has something to do with money taking over the culture, exploitation, art, and the age old question of whether or not ghostwriting is legit.
