Of course the topic of Lil Wayne’s public request to part ways with Cash Money Records and co-founder Baby was discussed. Nicki stated she was surprised by how far the issues between the two longtime associates managed to go.
“I knew that there was something going on, but I didn’t know Wayne was so mad about that,” said Nicki. “I think that it may be some other stuff. They just need to figure it out.”
After saying she rides with Wayne in a previous interview, the “Anaconda” rhymer added that she loved Baby and viewed him as one of the most genuine people she has met in the industry during her CRWN Q&A. Nicki also believes Wayne and Baby will work out their differences.
The conversation also covered Nicki’s desire to be a mother. She shared with the audience that the only thing she worries about is when she will have children. Nicki also reflected on other female performers’ choices on motherhood.
“I think about all the female icons that we cherished and loved, and they never had children. Like Janet,” said Nicki. “I personally love what Beyoncé has been able to do. I want to focus on the child.”
The Queens, New York representative chatted about her place in Hip Hop as well. Nicki declared herself the GOAT woman in rap music, but she acknowledged her fans put her in that position. She also expressed her want for Hip Hop followers to see her sincerity about the role she plays in the culture.
“I am the greatest female rapper, and it’s humbling because the people make you that,” Nicki stated. “I wanna let the Hip Hop culture know I take this serious.”
She added, “I know now they will never be able to dispute my skill.”
Despite her self-assured view of where she stands artistically, Nicki admitted she has moments where she still doubts herself.
“There’s a real thin line between genius and crazy,” she said. “Sometimes I’ll ask people, ‘What’s wrong with me?'”
