The DreamWorks/Warner Brothers production will present MLK’s life going from a Atlanta preacher to national figure to his 1968 assassination. King’s children, Dexter King, Bernice King and Martin Luther King III, are reportedly on board as executive producers. Steven Spielberg is also attached as a producer.

The script was written by Kario Salem (The ScoreChasing Mavericks). Salem’s screenplay is based on three years of research and interviews.

Several other MLK biopics have been in the works over the years, but the DreamWorks film is the only one endorsed by the King family.
