(AllHipHop News) In his heyday, Uncle Luke was the ringleader of 2 Live Crew, one of Hip-Hop’s most raunchy and notoriously sexual groups to ever hit the stage.
Luke and 2 Live’s music was so raucous, that the Supreme Court almost took the Miami group’s booty shaking music to trial in one of America’s most important court rulings surrounding our freedom of speech and the censorship of music deemed obscene by some in the public.
Despite his explicit past, today Uncle Luke is a community activist and outspoken member for urban communities in Miami and Dade County, also writing a column for the Miami Herald called, “Luke’s Gospel.”
AllHipHop has learned that Luke is continuing in his role of community activism by signing an endorsement deal with b Condoms in an effort to support safe sex in underserved communities.
“I am very excited to partner with b condoms to advocate safe sex,” Uncle Luke said. “Teen pregnancy and STDs are mostly impacting African-Americans and Latinos and I want to help make a difference. It’s time for everyone to go Platinum.”
In teaming up with Luke, b condoms seeks to counteract the disproportionate impact that teen pregnancy, HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted infections are having on underserved communities.
As part of the effort, Uncle Luke will donate 5,000 Platinum XL b condoms to Miami, FL area non-profit organizations this summer. Luke will also donate 1,000 Platinum XL b condoms through “Let the Runway Meet the Cause” to Empower U during the Florida Fashion Designers Expo Florida fashion week in Miami, FL.
“b condoms is excited to partner with Mr. Campbell on this effort to promote safe sex in underserved communities,” Reginald Thornton, Director of Marketing for b condoms explained. “Mr. Campbell is an iconic figure for his contributions to music, sports and at-risk youth and we believe this partnership provides a unique opportunity to extend his impact to community health.”
