Dirt Disciples flip a classic rap sample on “Panoramic,” the menacing new single from the NY duo that’ll inspire thoughts about a certain Hip-Hop chef. You have to hand it to one half of this gritty rap tag team, DJ Concept. The Long Island rep provides the listener with a taste of nostalgia while injecting a brooding sensibility via a snarling bassline.
You have to love Elmira’s callback to pro wrestling’s glory days: “The Tito Santana of rap/ Hop the top turnbuckle, wave my arms, drop kick to the back/ Motherf*ckers.” The New York connection only grows stronger with a guest verse from Coney Island native, Torae. He closes out the track in high fashion, gritting his teeth and spitting bars reminiscent of Jay Z classic, “So Ghetto.” Dirt Disciples’, The Ambition EP drops October 9th via Soulspazm.
