An actor with a recurring role on HBO’s#### series The Wire is recovering in a Baltimore area hospital, after being stabbed in the chest and buttock during a fracas at a local social hall on Sunday (March 23).

Christopher J. Clanton had a recurring role as Savino Bratton, a soldier in the Barksdale Organization who appeared in the first and fifth and final series of The Wire, which exposed the seedier side of the Baltimore drug trade.

Police were called to Overlea Caterers to disperse a crowd of 30 people, several of whom were engaged in a physical fight.

After the crowd was cleared, police found Clanton, 22, with stab wounds to his torso an buttock.

According to Clanton, he was simply attempting to bypass the unruly crowd when someone started to fight with him.

“I was trying to get out of the way,” Clanton told The Baltimore Sun. “I wanted to get past one of the guys that was involved…it escalated from there.”

Clanton recently started his own production company, Never Enough Entertainment.
