Common, Music Industry Experts Name Notorious B.I.G.’s “Juicy” Greatest Rap Song Ever

The BBC did a poll of music industry experts, who voted B.I.G.’s “Juicy” the greatest rap record ever.

(AllHipHop News) The Notorious B.I.G.’s#### Juicy has been voted the greatest hip-hop track of all time in a new BBC Music poll of industry experts.

The semi-autobiographical song about the rapper’s rise from rags to riches beat songs by the likes of Jay-Z and Kanye West to claim the top spot.

Rapper Common, who was on the panel of more than 100 experts deciding the vote, told the BBC: “This song defines the American dream from any kid’s perspective.”

Public Enemy’s revolutionary rap anthem “Fight the Power” took second place, with Mobb Deep’s “Shook Ones (Part II)” in third place.

“The Message” by Grandmaster Flash and Dr. Dre’s Nuthin’ But A ‘G’ Thang completed the top five.

Outkast, Jay, Kanye, Wu-Tang Clan, Tupac Shakur, and Nas are among the other artists with tracks on the 25-strong list.

The rundown is male-dominated, with Queen Latifah and Lauryn Hill the only women featured. Stars including Lil Kim, Missy Elliott, and Nicki Minaj missed out on a place in the poll.
