At a star-studded

press conference last night, former Roc-A-Fella Records heads Damon Dash and

Kareem “Biggs” Burke announced the official launch of their latest

musical venture, The Damon Dash Music Group.

The label, which

is to be designed as a joint venture partnership with the Island Def Jam Music

Group will boast former Roc-A-Fella recording artists Nicole Wray, Rell, N.O.R.E,

late rapper O.D.B. among others.

“I feel that

we made history with Roc-A-Fella.” Dash stated. “We showed honor

friendship and integrity. In this being one chapter moving on to the next, I

really wanted to do something that would be more impactful than anything that

I’ve done for the last 10 years.”

As part of the

inking, Dash also announced that he would distribute Record Labels for the likes

of the RZA 7 Auerulis, M.O.P, and N.O.R.E. through the imprint.

“All I do

is preach entrepreneurship and empower the right people. And all I want to make

good music, and give others the opportunity to do so with the Damon dash Music

Group I have the opportunity to give labels, give them a chance to be the boss,

to have a vision.”

Dash also noted

that the deal came to fruition from Island Def jam Head Antonio L.A Ried’

willingness to become apart of the movement.

“LA Reid

was very supportive of my cause. He too was with an artist whom both went their

separate ways.” He continued. “At a time where everyone was turning

their back on me, he embraced me.”

Dash will also

stated that he will serve as an executive consultant for several Island Def

Jam recording artists including Cam’Ron, Beanie Sigel among others.

The signing comes

in light of Universal’s recent purchase of the remaining 50 percent of

Roc-A Fella Records last month. Since then Jay-Z has went on to become President

of the Island Def Jam Music Group and acquired 100 percent ownership of the

Roc-a-Fella name and company.
