The Los Angeles Times is reporting Diddy will not be charged with a felony from his arrest at UCLA. A source told the publication prosecutors decided not to pursue felony charges because Diddy waved the kettleball used during the incident at several people and no one was seriously injured.

The case was sent from the L.A. County district attorney’s office to the L.A. city attorney. That prosecutor will decide whether to charge Diddy with a misdemeanor. The decision is expected to be announced next week.

“We are thankful that the district attorney rejected felony charges in this matter,” said Diddy’s attorney Mark Geragos. “This case never should have been part of the criminal justice system to begin with.”

Diddy was taken into custody last week after the Hip Hop mogul was accused of assaulting his son’s assistant football coach at UCLA. Sal Alosi apparently dismissed Justin Combs from the team for the summer. Diddy confronted Alosi, and the situation became physical. Video cameras are said to have captured Diddy swinging the kettleball in the Bruins’ weight room.
