2Extremes Inc. has teamed up with various rap artists, journalists and leaders in the Hip-Hop community to launch the second annual Hip-Hop Leadership Camp at UCLA this weekend. Guest speakers include E40, Sway, (MTV and The Sway& Tech Wake Up Show), Chino XL, Big Jon (EMI Publishing), Big Paul (Sr. Director Promotions & Marketing – West Coast, Universal Music Group/Motown), Grouchy Greg Watkins (Co-Founder/AllHipHop.com) DJ Skee, Mister Cartoon, Gary Jackson (Professor – Hip Hop Business at UCLA), Davey D., Cynthia Johnson (Warner Bros. Records) and many others. The camp was founded by Karen P. Levy and Frank Satterwhite in 1995 at UC Berkeley with a mission to cultivate a positive vision in children and provide them with the necessary tools to advance in education and life, The Hip-Hop Leadership Camp targets at risk children in the urban communities of Los Angeles, California to promote teamwork and to show importance of participation in all aspects of business. “When people say things like ‘this is an amazing thing you are doing for the kids’ it’s a very uncomfortable feeling,” Levy told AllHipHop.com. “We do it because it makes us feel good and we want our children to grow-up in a society that is better than what they have today.” The four day gathering will include educational seminars and hands on workshops along with discussions geared toward leadership training and social responsibility. There is no charge for the kids that attend the camp and next year, 2Extremes will be conducting 3 camps – in Los Angeles, New York and a third undisclosed location.
