Hip Hop Songs Lead Hot 100 Chart Back-To-Back Weeks For First Time Since 2008

HIT RECORDS BY MIGOS & RAE SREMMURD TOP THE CHART

(AllHipHop News) Hip Hop is starting off 2017 by setting a mark not seen in years.

With Migos’ “Bad And Boujee” at #1 and Rae Sremmurd’s “Black Beatles” at #2, the Billboard Hot 100 chart is led by two rap songs for consecutive weeks for the first time in more than eight years.

That feat has not been accomplished since T.I.’s “Live Your Life” and “Whatever You Like” in 2008.

Both “Bad And Boujee” and “Black Beatles” benefited from viral success online.

Rae Sremmurd previously hit #1 with “Black Beatles” thanks in part to the #MannequinChallenge.

Migos’ climb to the pole position was helped by the “raindrop, drop top” Twitter meme.

“Bad And Boujee” also got a boost from Donald Glover when the Atlanta actor mentioned the Migos and their hit record during his Golden Globe Awards speech.

That Glover declaration will likely play a role in the song staying at #1 on the Hot 100 for more than one week.
