J. Dilla Fans Want A Statue Of The Rapper In Detroit

A push to have a monument honoring late producer J. Dilla is underway.

(AllHipHop News) Fans of J. Dilla have launched a petition to have a statue of the producer erected in Detroit.

A petition called “We Need A J. Dilla Statue In Detroit” was started to “gauge public support for a public art installation in J. Dilla’s honor in the city of Detroit.

The hometown hero is revered for his innovative production style.

Unfortunately, J. Dilla passed away from complications associated with the disease Lupus.

Despite his untimely death in February of 2006 J. Dilla managed to have a huge impact on hip-hop and the music industry as a whole.

Dilla worked with a wide variety of artists, ranging from The Pharcyde, Slum Village, Nas and A Tribe Called Quest to Janet Jackson and Erkyah Badu.

Once the signature goal of 1,500 is met, the petition will officially be presented to the city of Detroit.
