Jim Jones Signs New Deal with Columbia Records; Maintains Partnership with Koch

Dipset rapper Jim Jones will have more than one record label pushing his next album, thanks to his new deal with Columbia Records.   Through the new alliance, which doubles as a partnership with current recording home Koch Records, Jones will benefit from the two companies, as Koch will continue to handle marketing and radio promotion for the rapper, while Columbia will overss all other aspects of his campaigns.   According to Koch president, Bob Frank, Jones stands to gain greater exposure from receiving backing from the two labels.   “Jim Jones is a superstar and this arrangement positions him in such a way as to maximize the strengths of the number on Independent Koch Records and the most storied and historic label in the history of the record business, Columbia Records,” Frank stated.   Jones’ new deal marks a new chapter in his relationship with Koch.   The rapper has recorded three albums for the label, including 2004’s On My Way to Church, 2005’s Harlem: Diary of a Summer and 2006’s Hustler’s P.O.M.E. (Product of My Environment).   The third album, which was recently certified gold, spawned the hit single “We Fly High.”   Looking ahead Coumbia Records’ Chairman Steve Barnett is confident about Jones’ potential with his label.   “We are thrilled to join forces with Koch Records on behalf of Jim Jones,” Barnett said in a statement. “We believe in his artistry and are excited about the future.”
