Kanye West Heading To Court In $2.5 Million Battle Over “New Slaves” Sample

KANYE IS HEADING TO COURT

(AllHipHop News) Kanye West’s dispute over the hit song “New Slaves” will be going to court this May.

Kanye West was sued for $2.5 million, by a Hungarian producer named Gabor Presser.

Presser insists that Kanye illegally sampled more than 85 seconds of his 1969 song “Gyöngyhajú Lány” (“The Girl with Pearl’s In Her Hair”).

Kanye never received the proper permission to use the song in “New Slaves” and so far, Presser, the original composer of the work, has only received a piddling $700 from the rap star.

According to reports, Kanye and his lawyers did try to settle the legal mess just before the release of the Yeezus album, however, a settlement could not be reached between the two parties.

Kanye reportedly offered a $10,000 for using the sample, which the Hungarian singer flatly rejected, in addition to declining any paperwork sent by the Chicago artists’ lawyers.

The trial is set to begin on May 15 in Los Angeles.
