Koch Responds To Haystak Comments

Koch has responded to recent allegations by rapper Haystack that the label "mutilated" his product. In a recent interview with AllHipHop.com, Haystacks compared his relationship with Koch to that of a battered woman. "It was thanks to KOCH/In The Paint that Def Jam knew who Haystak was," the label told AllHipHop.com in a statement. "Our first single, "Reckon" was a 1000 BDS Spin hit." Haystak was referring to his last album, The Natural, which was released via Koch/In The Paint. Haystak was unhappy with the results of the album. "They put the album out on July twenty-somethin’, and I sat down on July twenty-somethin’. I stopped movin’, and made it very clear that after the shortcomings of The Natural, I would never hand over another product to them, Haystak said. "I took their phone calls that’s about it." While Koch disagrees with Haystak, the label harbors no animosity towards him. "It is important to note that Def Jam and KOCH did this deal together sharing the vision that Haystak has a chance to be a major artist. We wish him all the best in the future." Haystak is preparing to release his next album, Return Of Mak Million.
