A Brooklyn Supreme Court Judge has ruled to dismiss a lawsuit against rapper Foxy Brown, stemming from a 2007 assault to which she pleaded guilty nearly a year ago, the New York Post reported earlier this week.
According to the New York City tabloid, on Thursday (April 9), Justice Robert Miller dismissed the claim filed by Brown’s former neighbor Arlene Raymond in May 2008.
The civil suit was filed on the same day that Foxy Brown, born Inga Marchand, pleaded guilty to assaulting Raymond during an argument in July 2007.
However, it seems Brown was never served with legal papers, which lead Judge Miller to his decision.
The fight started when Raymond complained about Brown blasting her car stereo.
After a heated exchange, Brown reportedly threw her Blackberry at her neighbor, who was left with a bruised eye and chipped tooth.
On May 9, 2008, Brooklyn Supreme Court Judge John Walsh accepted a plea deal which sentenced Brown to time served and extended Raymond’s order of protection against the former Def Jam artist, but only after the raptress had submitted a written apology to the court.
Just two weeks prior, Brown had resolved a Florida assault case with a similar plea.
Foxy Brown’s guilty plea in this case did not come without some resistance.
In October 2007, while serving a one year jail term at Riker’s Island for violating her probation from a previous assault case, she refused to board a Department of Corrections bus to appear in court twice in one day.
Four days later, on October 16, 2007, Brown pleaded not guilty to charges of assault, attempted assault, menacing, and criminal possession of a weapon.
