Lizzo’s “Truth Hurts” Breaks Cardi B’s Record For Longest-Running No. 1 Song By A Female Rapper

The ‘Cuz I Love You’ creator stands alone on top of the mountain.

(AllHipHop News) Lizzo rules over the Hot 100 once again with “Truth Hurts.” The single has led the Billboard chart for four straight weeks.

“Truth Hurts” is now the longest-running Number One record by a female rapper of all time. Lizzo passed her fellow Atlantic recording artist Cardi B, whose 9x-time platinum “Bodak Yellow” topped the Hot 100 for three weeks in 2017.

Only three female rappers have hit the peak of the Hot 100 as a solo artist. Lauryn Hill’s “Doo Wop (That Thing)” reigned for two weeks in 1998. Just six women connected to Hip Hop culture – Lizzo, Cardi, Lauryn, Lil Kim, Shawnna, and Iggy Azalea – have a Number One in their respective discographies.

“‘Truth Hurts’ is officially the longest solo female rap #1 in history. I fell in love with music when I was 9 years old… I had no idea our love affair would go this far. Good to know it was all worth it. Don’t run away from what your heart wants. Follow that b*tch to ur destiny,” tweeted Lizzo.
