According to reports, LL Cool J, the first artist to release a record on Def Jam, is actively seeking a new home to release records, after his proposed $20 million dollar deal with Def Jam was shot down by executives. While the deal that LL sought didn’t happen, the rapper is still in negotiations with the label, for whom he has sold tens of millions of CD’s. In related news, LL is preparing for the release of S.W.A.T., which is the big screen treatment of the 1970’s series of the same name. LL stars in the movie, that centers around a drug lord who offers a $100 million dollar reward to anyone that can free him from police custody. S.W.A.T. hits theaters August 8.
