(AllHipHop News) Former Death Row artist and songstress Michel’le appeared on talk show The Real to talk her upcoming biopic Surviving Compton: Dre, Suge & Michel’le and her goals of empowering women through abuse.
“I want people, I want woman especially to take away from this that you should know your power by ten-years-old. You have to understand, we actually birth the men, we raise the men and then we have to go out and find one for ourselves and raise again,” the singer responded when asked how she would like viewers of the film to be influenced.
Michel’le has often documented the physical and verbal abuse she faced from west coast legend Dr. Dre, who’s currently threatening Michel’le with a lawsuit for his depiction in the film.
In her appearance on the show she urges women to find their inner strength to move past their obstacles.
“We’re very powerful human beings. And I want women to look at this and say, ‘All these things that I went through… They are not mistakes. They are not regrets. They were obstacles,”
She then added: “And I think if women start looking at things that way and knowing who they are. And they can do things, you’re already whole, he makes you just a better whole. But use your strength and if you start early, I want them to take that away from this film.”
Surviving Compton premieres Saturday, Oct. 15 at 8 p.m. ET on Lifetime.
