Recent Atlantic Records signee and Oakland native Mistah F.A.B. is helping local youth to succeed this school year as part of Youth Uprisings Back to School Night.” Thanks to a generous contribution from Mistah F.A.B., Youth Uprising will be giving away 200 backpacks filled with back to school necessities such as pens, pencils, 3-ring binders, folders, and paper. “I feel it’s really important that kids go to school to see the value in their education,” Mistah F.A.B. said. “The power of the pen is mightier than the sword; and the more we know, the more we can make a change. As entertainers its our duty to share the success that we have received from our fans.” Not only will students receive backpacks, but they will also receive information on the CAHSEE high school exit exam and parents will be given a presentation on upcoming plans for their district. Youth Uprising provides youth with a variety of programs including academic assistance, educational stipends, and job training and placement opportunities to decrease violence and promote education among high school and college students.
