Presiding Judge Florence-Marie Cooper made the ruling based on the view that the defendant Los Angeles Police Department had withheld crucial evident. The finding came after an unnamed person tipped the court to a significant amount of evidence that had not been given to lawyers of the estate. Biggie (real name Christopher Wallace) was slain in 1997 and the family maintains that former LAPD officer David Mack helped kill the rapper using the resources of the department. They maintain that Mack worked in cahoots with Death Row Records founder Suge Knight, who had a feud with B.I.G. and Sean Puffy Combs. Testimony began on June 21 but the anonymous tip disrupted the case. The estate for The Notorious B.I.G. told Reuters that they intend to re-file the suit with additional defendants like Mack’s former partner Rafael Perez.
