Neptunes: Blazin On A Station Near You

Although their debut album In Search Of under the monikor N*E*R*D* has been pushed back to late Fall 2001, that is not keeping music’s sought after producers The Neptunes from hittin’ off everyone from Britney Spears to Busta as of late. Since the Summer of 2001 began, Neptunes tracks have been blazing everywhere from the ghettos to the suburbs. Their track on Jadakiss’ solo album "Knock Ya Self Out"(in stores August 7th) has been a true club banger since its first spin while pop supergroup N*SYNC has a track called "Girlfriend" produced by the Neptunes on their latest Disc Celebrity(which has debuted at #1 on the Billboard Charts with 1.88 Million units sold, DAMN!). The Virginia duo also produced Usher’s newest single "I Don’t Know" featuring P.Diddy. The track is blazing radio and clubs nationwide upon the heels of Usher’s newest album "8701" due in stores August 7th. After blessing the Violator 2.0 compilation with numerous tracks(Busta’s "What It Is" and Noreaga’s "Grimey") they are currently working on Kelis’ second album and even have provided a track for pop princess Britney Spears third album due in the Fall of this year. Although often criticized for making tracks that some say "All sound the same", they are nominated for producers of the year at the upcoming Source Awards and one half of the Neptunes, Pharrell Williams, even has a duet with R&B diva Mary J. Blige on her upcoming album. "We’re not testing the waters," Pharrell said in a recent interview with Grand Royal magazine. "We are just trying to be big ripples in the ocean. We have to interrupt what’s going on and in a sense music is stagnant." If the past reflects anything of the future, look out for these two cats to be on fire for not only the rest of 2001, but 2002 and beyond.
