Hip-Hop represented at the second annual BET

Awards yesterday in Los Angeles. Hosted by Steve Harvey and Cedrick The Entertainer

at Hollywood’s Kodak Theater, the Awards show honored African-American’s in

music, film and sports categories. The awards are voted by label executives,

media and fans. Outkast won the award for

Best Music Group, Ja-Rule snagged Best Hip-Hop artist, Missy Elliot took best

Female Hip-Hop honors, while Busta Rhymes, P.Diddy and Pharrell won Best Video

Award for "Pass The Courvoisier, Part II."

Serious drama almost took place during a commercial

break when Suge Knight and Snoop Dogg had some words for each other. Suge, who

was wearing bright red leather sat across from Snoop when a seat became open.

According to sources, the two exchanged words and it appeared to the audience

they were going to actually fight. Suge walked to the stage to speak with host

Steve Harvey, while Snoop moved toward the backstage entrance, staying visible

for most of the show.

On a less serious note, Hits, from Hits From The

Street proposed to his girlfriend on the stage to the audience’s delight, while

Ja-Rule humored the crowd. During his performance of "Down Ass Chick," Ja had on a pair of tearaway parachute pants that refused

to come off during his performance. After 3 or 4 good tries, the pants came

off, revealing a pair of leather pants.
