‘Power’ Star Omari Hardwick’s Album To Feature 50 Cent, Rotimi, Method Man & More

THE ACTOR IS RETURNING TO HIS POETRY ROOTS

(AllHipHop News) Before Omari Hardwick became the lead actor on the popular Starz drama Power, the Georgia native was known for spitting Spoken Word.

Hardwick released the Return of the Poet CD in 2002, and now he is returning to his roots by releasing a new poetry album.

Later Decatur will include guest appearances by fellow Power stars 50 Cent and Rotimi as well as other artists Method Man, Melanie Fiona, Tank, and Goapele.

According to reports, Grammy-winning performer Robert Glasper was tapped to produce the project.

The first single from Later Decatur is a track titled “Bloodshed” featuring Josiah Bell.

“As a poet, I would always hear emcees come up to me and say, ‘Yo, you should rap,’ and I was like, ‘No.’ You know, the label was tough for me,” Hardwick told Vibe. ‘I’m a poet. I was proud of that distinction between the two, not wanting to be the other. So, I think just in terms of what God’s call for me was, I think I was to pop in a world of visibility as an actor prior to audibility as a musician…People were seeing me enough that they might listen to something I had to say even if they didn’t necessarily receive it. They’d at least give it a shot.”

#BloodShed ……No more blood shed @josiahbell @vibemagazine ☝?Link in Bio.
