(AllHipHop News) Nas’ debut studio album Illmatic is held as one of the greatest ~~Hip Hop~~ albums of all time. The 1994 masterpiece featured production by DJ Premier, Large Professor, Pete Rock, L.E.S., and Q-Tip of A Tribe Called Quest.

Tip recently sat down with Classic HipHop Media to reflect on the impact of Illmatic. The native New Yorker played a previously unheard version of “Memory Lane” produced by Premo.

“Premier may kill me for this, and Nas may kill me for this too. But I gotta let y’all hear this sh*t,” said Q-Tip. “When I heard this record that Prem did, I said I gotta give [Nas] something on that eerie sh*t.”
