SZA: TDE Stole My Hard Drive In Order To Release ‘Ctrl’ Album

“I JUST KEPT F-CKING EVERYTHING UP”

(AllHipHop News) SZA followers waited several years for the R&B songstress to release her debut studio album.

Ctrl finally arrived on June 9 to critical acclaim.

According to SZA, the project only saw the light of day because her Top Dawg Entertainment label took extreme measures to get the music out.

“They just took my hard drive from me,” SZA told The Guardian. “I just kept f-cking everything up. I just kept moving sh-t around. I was choosing from 150, 200 songs, so I’m just like, who knows what’s good anymore?”

The “Drew Barrymore” singer admitted if some unknown person from TDE had not taken those recordings, the version the public got to hear may have been different.

“I’m also driving myself f-cking crazy, so I don’t know. Give me another month and it would have been something completely different,” said SZA.

Last October, SZA seemed to be fine with Top Dawg taking control of her release date.

She tweeted (then deleted), “I actually quit. [TDE President Punch] can release my album if he ever feels like it. Y’all be blessed.”

Besides listening to the Ctrl album or attending the “Set It Off” tour with Bryson Tiller, fans can also hear SZA’s music on the HBO series Insecure.
